  1. Fruitvale Station deserved a nomination last years. Its snub saddens me.
  2. I finished season 3, those are still my three favorites. However, I feel like my heart has been cut out and stomped on after those last two episodes. I do like Jon Snow too, I have a feeling he and Daenerys will end up very important to the climax of it all.
  3. With how long a wait Avatar 2 is going to be, I'd suspect they will have struck the iron way to late. If it keeps on getting delayed like this, chances are no one will care. It certainly hasn't left a cultural mark as sizable as other phenomenons such as Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Titanic, etc. I think making a sequel to it could be about as successful as a sequel to ET. If you remember, Jaws 2 did under half of what Jaws did as did Jurassic Park 2. Sequels to phenomenons do not equal another phenomenon.
  4. Gotham Awards Picture: Birdman Documentary: Citizenfour Actor: Keaton Actress: Moore Ensemble: Foxcatcher Audience Award: Boyhood
  5. 50% as of now, Unbroken seems to have broken its Oscar chances and Jolie can go back to acting.
  6. I finished season 2 and this show is frustrating and possibly the best tv show I have ever watched.
  7. Boyhood's going to sweep the critic awards with a chance of Birdman upsetting.
  8. If you want a drama without special effects you better cut out Gone Girl, it has more VFX than Interstellar.
  9. I don't get the no wide release adult oriented films complaint, This year we have Gone Girl Fury Interstellar Unbroken Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Lucy 22 Jump Street Edge of Tomorrow The Equalizer Non-Stop The Monuments Men Jersey Boys Exodus: Gods and Kings The Grand Budapest Hotel John Wick Nightcrawler The Theory of Everything Birdman Foxcatcher The Imitation Game Inherent Vice The Judge St Vincent Chef Get on Up The Hundred Foot Journey Boyhood A Walk Among the Tombstones X-Men: Days of Future Past Yes, there weren't that many R rated hits this year and that's worrying. But I think the biggest problem is more franchisation than anything else. They want a sequel to anything that's a hit nowadays even if it makes no sense to have one,
  10. 1.Game of Thrones 2.It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia 3.Breaking Bad 4.Doctor Who 5.Buffy the Vampire Slayer 6.Dollhouse 7.South Park 8.Firefly 9.The Big Bang Theory 10.Lost
  11. Knightley isn't winning, she'll only get nominated on the merit of imitation game. Honestly, this is Arquette's to lose. Meryl isn't winning again.
  12. The movie is highly quoted, it's one enjoyed more for its quality and entertainment value (even by children) than necessarily its merchandising. I mean it's hard to make Halloween comparisons because fish aren't necessarily easy costumes when compared to your Elsa or Minion (I saw lots of those, I don't recall a buzz or woody)
  13. Really? Critically finding nemo has a 99% just like Toy Storys. It was also a much, much larger box office hit. Its a pop culture phenomenon, I don't know how large it'll be but finding nemo is just as if not more beloved by the GA as toy story.
  14. There haven't been that many impressive soundtracks this year. I think to win the soundtrack has to be listenable to on its own while also serving the movie and highlighting the moments within it (I'll give an exception to Birdman because the improv drums was a really cool effect). Despite liking Interstellar's soundtrack the beginning is fairly monotonous and it actually can be a problem within the movie because it steals attention away from what's on screen with its volume (but that's more of a sound mixing problem).
  15. After seeing The Theory of Everything it has to get nominated, my favorite soundtrack of the year, and it plays into the movie so well. I haven't been able to stop listening to it, no soundtrack this year has done that to me, it is rich, complex, and yet still elegant and simple. Just listen to this track
  16. Easily DH1, it splits the book to the point where you still get a full story arc unlike Mockingjay
  17. It might have been because Rise of the Guardians + (kind of) Life of Pi is much more competition than Penguins.
  18. The Theory of Everything upset and is tracking above Mockingjay for Friday.
  19. 1.Wild 2.Inherent Vice 3.Jurassic World 4.Unbroken 5.Into the Woods 6.In the Heart of the Sea 7.Tomorrowland 8.Selma 9.The Interview 10.Foxcatcher
  20. I'm beginning to think Unbroken may end up similar to Les Miserables, War Horse, Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, The Blind Side, etc. Things that seemed incredibly competitive on paper only to fall flat when it came time for the actual awards.
