  1. These movies are so cheesy and terrible that they are guiltily enjoyable. D+
  2. In a long time? What superhero movie is actually better than it?
  3. She does, but her performance isn't all that great. Then again she has nothing to really work with. It's more like everyone sucks so it makes her look even better than she actually is.
  4. I gave the film a rewatch because others were and I want to change my official grade from a D to an F. The only good thing about this upon rewatch was the curse scene and even that was flawed. The exposition was out of control, the CGI is awful, the art design is groan worthy, the film spits in the face of Sleeping Beauty, id create a longer rant about it but I believe everyone here has said what there is to be said. It comes off as being a fan fiction written by a 15 year old for an English class assignment. Jolie does what she can with it but even then it doesn't redeem a terrible, terrible film that is getting over rewarded due to pure circumstance.
  5. Predictable is fine, but a lot of the parts feel way to obviously foreshadowed to the point it felt forced. That's more what I meant by predictable. I didn't need giant twists and turns like a thriller or anything but when the story plays out exactly how you'd expect it to in your head (especially if it's a light dramatic comedy) then it loses a lot of the initial entertainment value. I'm fine seeing a story I've seen many times over again, but to get me to love that story I've seen a hundred times over they have to do something unique with it to help set it apart. Within a couple months this movie (while very enjoyable and likable when you watch it) will blend in as identical to many of the others just like it. Like for example, just this year Bad Words came out and that movie was thematically very similar to this one, the performances and production values were weaker, but in contrast it was funnier and a bit more interesting. Both got a B+ from me which is a strong grade, so it's not like I am bagging on either of them. For me to give above a B+ to something though it has to have something that will stick out as memorable by the end of the year in a good way, as well as be light on technical flaws.

  7. I always knew the East was rising above America in taste, intelligence, and economic power.

  9. When I saw St Vincent the audience had a really good reaction to it, im not surprised about its WoM now.
  10. Yup, that's fine! I will allow people to be creative with their definition of trilogy, just as long as it makes sense. Also remember, the more creative you are with the rule the less likely others will vote for it because they might not see it as a trilogy. For example, X-Men 1-3 could be considered a trilogy. Also things like the Cornetto Trilogy also count as one. (As does the Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight trilogy)

  12. A very likable film, and some strong performances all around. This film can be fairly predictable and cliche'd at parts but it certain moments can still be touching. B+
  13. Watch Eternal Sunshine and Truman Show, I'm in your boat on Jim Carrey but when he goes to dramatic roles he is really strong.
  14. 5 dimensional beings don't experience time linearly thus the grandfather paradox cannot apply to them.
  15. This is self-explanatory, if you are having trouble you can look at this list http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_film_series_with_three_entries For the sake of the list 3 correlating films of a larger franchise can count as a trilogy as long as it makes sense. For example Star Wars OT is a trilogy, the original 3 Indiana jones are a trilogy, lord of the rings is a separate trilogy from the Hobbit, etc. Ranking will go 1. 5 points 2 - 5. 4 points 6 - 10. 3 points 11 - 20. 2 points 21 - 33. 1 point Deadline: December 13th
  16. I have a problem here because I don't watch a lot of TV, but I do have some I can list. I'll try and make one
  17. What's weird with Carrey is I typically don't like him in films but when he lands a rare dramatic role like Eternal Sunshine or Truman show the film is one of my all time favorites.
  18. It's goofy but it's true, no other emotion is going to cause people to do the logically unreasonable and push themselves to such an extent
  19. People are overthinking the time travel portion. In 5 dimensions time is bendable and not linear, it only appears linear to us mortals in 3 dimensions. The 5 dimensional beings aren't futuristic, they are omnipresent throughout all of time, thus they are present in a timeframe of pre-human ascension. People are thinking that time has to work 3 dimensionally and thus are getting caught in the paradox. In Interstellar's universe time isn't relative (that's a revelation of the movie) and it and gravity are 5 dimensional particles. In 3 dimensions we can only feel their effect and relevance.
  20. 1.Jurassic World 2.Tomorrowland 3.Inherent Vice 4.Exodus: Gods and Kigs 5.Whiplash 6.Unbroken 7.In the Heart of the Sea 8.The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 9.Crimson Peak 10.American Sniper
  21. Didn't 12 Years a Slave win last year? That wasn't exactly flashy production design.
