  1. Hoffman was the silver lining of this movie, without him it's incredibly dull and I was fighting to keep myself awake (Which is fairly rare when I watch movies). It leads nowhere, not that I have a problem with nihilist themes, I love Pulp Fiction so that's obviously not a problem, but the film itself goes nowhere. It doesn't need to have excitement, but it does need to be able to keep you interested and invested, and it honestly doesn't. The production values aren't bad, but with the exception of Hoffman, nothing sticks out and it left me feeling rather indifferent. I can't completely discredit the film, because none of the production values are really bad, but with the exception of Hoffman nothing stands out. Ultimately, I feel like this will be rather forgettable. C+
  2. Take into consideration that interstellar is the first holiday season Nolan film so it should get some thanksgiving and Christmas bumps.
  3. I think one of the big ideas is the 5th dimension and how all of the big ideas in the movie (time, love, gravity, etc.) are not relative, and can transcend our perceived boundaries. The movie's theory of time is not a 2 dimensional version (the version we perceive) but spherical and thus the beginning of a certain threadline could begin at a later linear point in the timeline than another.
  4. Yeah, it was really quality material before Damon imploded, but that 3rd act brought it up so much. People also need to look at it from an artisitc and thematic level rather than a flat plot level, there are so many thematic reasons why everything that happens has to happen.
  5. No, watch this in theaters for the sake of the visual experience. I saw it last night in 70mm Film and it was easily one of the best films of the year, it's just very easy to go over a viewers head, and it really warrants multiple viewings. I'm not sure if it's my favorite of the year yet but it's a contender.
  6. That's true that they are adaptions, but they are adaptions of obscure titles and they delve from the source material, it's more like they are inspired from the fairy tales and such. They aren't doing direct sequels or prequels which is good for me.
  7. These numbers really aren't that bad, I don't know why people are freaking out. It's not a summer blockbuster, previews aren't going to be insanely high and neither will its limited release.
  8. 1.Inherent Vice 2.Tomorrowland 3.The Interview 4.Exodus: Gods and Kings 5.Unbroken 6.Heart of the Sea 7.Inside Out 8.The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 9.American Sniper 10.Jurassic World
  9. I don't know if it's Disney's fault because WDAS are making lots of original titles.
  10. As a whole, I'll agree there hasn't been a movie since Avatar that has been able to best all of the visual accomplishments it boasted. However it's been beaten in MoCap and Visual Effects, however I don't think any film except Avatar 2 will really be able to beat its 3D. It's not because only Avatar 2 can beat Avatar in 3D, it's because no other filmmaker has really had the interest in really making a true 3D experience like Cameron did with Avatar, 3D has been more of an afterthought.
  11. I think there's still room for growth, especially if it's a better movie. Despicable Me 2 was very well liked by its target audience, there's no reason for it to drop to much unless DM3 drops in quality.
  12. I'd rather have Cars 3 than Toy Story 4. Cars was never a good complete trilogy that had no reason to be expanded upon.
  13. You do realize people know films have to make money and that's not what they mean by cash grab, right?
  14. I answered yes to all of this questions. Franchises aren't the same once they go sour.
  15. Toy Story is middle of the pack Pixar for me (better than Cars, Brave, MU, Cars 2, and A Bugs Life), but still no. This is disgusting. We don't need another Toy Story, they've covered just about everything they could with the trilogy. TS3 was a perfect end.
  16. It's still anecdotal evidence, obviously a large portion of people love it.
  17. BoxOffice.com's User Tracking projects this range for Big Hero 6 Big Hero 6: 57.96m - 65.86m (Official Predict of 61.91m)
  18. It's funny when you make it nearly believable. On my top 25 most overrated films list I said Magic Mike was number one and there was about a page of mind blown reactions. When I revealed The Avengers was the real number 1 many people were genuinely surprised
  19. Same for me, with Avatar I was aware I was watching CGI, with Gravity I was immersed in a reality. I also thought Life of Pi in terms of CGI was stronger than Avatar, as was Dotpota.
  20. It's open to interpretation, I took it as they were just part of his fantasy though and as the movie inches farther and farther a long more of what you see is simply a blend of reality and his own insanity. (Such as the whole post-shooting himself ending just being his own pre-death fantasy of accepting himself as Birdman)
  21. What if we did a Top 50 Worst Films With a Fresh Rating on RT, what havoc might we end up causing?
  22. I'm surprised (yet pleased) you loved it so much.
