  1. The Gremlins is kind of racist though...
  2. I'm sorry not every movie character is a human/animal rights activist who has the morality of Gandhi.
  3. I think it's to new and to unknowing on how impactful it could be on future Disney Movies and animated movies as a whole. If we start seeing more female lead animations and animated musicals we will know Frozen made an impact.
  4. Yeah, but Mean Girls might just be a bit more over the top than the likes of The Breakfast Club or Fast Times. It's on Netflix, go watch it as soon as you can.
  5. I'll agree, they advertised a coming of age tale about imagination, friendship, and loss as a Narnia rehash.
  6. 7. 70 Frozen A recent movie that pulled off a fantastic, classic Disney run and has become the number 1 animated movie Worldwide of all time, there are very few movies that are able to pull off the type of Word of Mouth Frozen managed to pull. Not only that but it fully capitalized on its overseas markets by makes over 200m in Japan alone. With that in mind, it'll be extremely interesting to see how much of an impact Frozen has on movies in the coming years.
  8. I don't know if Mean Girls really defined high schools, it was an over-exaggerated example of a typical high school. Not complaining, I love Mean Girls and I laugh more every time I see it.
  9. What it was advertised as: A dramatic retelling, emotional of a class origin story. What it was: Brainless Destructo porn.
  10. I love both of these but I have to go with Guardians, that movie just hits my ultimate soft spot.
  11. I think it varies movie to movie, if you make a classic that people will want a lot of repeat value of than you could bet a lot. So for something like Frozen I would believe it, that'll sell a lot of dvd's and blurays for a very long time as well as merchandise and soundtrack sales, etc. However something like Neighbors probably won't get a lot of ancillary revenue compared to theatrical.
  12. Hmmm, pretty good numbers, nothing out of the ordinary though.
  13. TDK is a very strong movie, but just because it's dark and serious doesn't necessarily make it stronger.Artistically TDK is the better film, but I'd personally watch TA over TDK any day.
  14. Iron Man 2 and (Arguably) The Incredible Hulk are worse than anything in Phase 2. Here is my ranking for every Marvel movie ever The Great 1.Guardians of the Galaxy 2.The Avengers 3.Iron Man 4.X-Men: Days of Future Past 5.Spider-Man 2 The Good 6.X-Men: First Class 7.Iron Man 3 8.Captain America: The Winter Soldier 9.Thor 10.Spider-Man 11.Captain America: The First Avenger 12.X2: X-Men United 13.Thor 2: The Dark World 14.X-Men 15.The Amazing Spider-Man The Okay 16.The Wolverine 17.Blade 2 18.The Incredible Hulk 19.Iron Man 2 20.X-Men: Last Stand 21.Blade The Bad 22.Hulk 23.Blade Trinity 24.The Fantastic Four 25.Spider-Man 3 26.The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer 27.Daredevil 28.The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Ugly 29.Elektra 30.Ghost Rider 31.X-Men Origins: Wolverine 32.Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance 33.Howard the Duck
  15. I'll join in on the riffing of the Nut Job, I need to increase the rotten count on my 2014 movies list it's starting to get outnumbered by the fresh movies.

  17. *Sigh* There isn't even a gimmick in Boyhood and that is nowhere near the reason it's the masterpiece it is.

  19. 71 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest An absolutely massive hit, especially for how small of a film that this really is. But I am putting this on here not just because of the absolutely incredible box office but because of how culturally influential it really became and how resonant it still is today (which is part of the reason it made as much money as it did). What I find truly important about it now is to think about how spectacularly vocal people had to be about this movie in order to drive it to its successes because this would be the equivalent of 12 Years a Slave breaking out and reaching 400m domestically today. Absolutely unimaginable.
  20. I will say, I was never able to get personally invested into the movie, it kept me attentive but at the edge of losing my attention (almost how Hiddleston felt about his life in it) in that I constantly thought about pausing and doing something else but didn't. As a film though it is very well-made and has lots of substance to it, with the occasional sense of humor thrown in, it's a movie that you're meant to get lost in however I just never really got that effect. To its credit though the different shots were very interesting and were often what kept my attention more than the film itself, and the entire thing has an effect on your mood, you come out of it rather delirious, so it did play an effect. In a way, if there was an intelligent, well-acted version of Twilight out there this would be it. It's a bit too monotonous for my taste but it was a very fresh take of things. You get a sympathetic view of the vampires and there are many spurts in it that really grab you, they are just seldomly placed throughout the feature. There are many bits throughout that would make me think its worth a re-watch so I can get a better understanding of the whole thing, because there are some strong underlying themes and ideas in it, but I don't think I'd have the willpower or patience to sit through it again. In all honesty, this is one of those cases where the entire time I know I am watching a good film, it is just for whatever reason I couldn't attach myself to what I was watching at this moment in time. I'd recommend watching it though, it is a creative, well-shot, well-acted, and intriguing movie that's worth a viewing. B
  21. The problem is that Avatar was a phenomenon, it had a lot of reasons for its success. No sequel has ever been the highest grossing movie of all time WW and we should take that into consideration.Avatar 2 is going to behave very different than a normal sequel and those kind of legs are pretty much out of the question.
