  1. Non-Stop and Son of God's target audience aren't necessarily people who care about the Oscars.
  2. 249 The Sound of Music Some will regard this as an unnecessary best picture winner, but it's an extremely well made movie with lots of catchy songs. Despite all of the trite, cheese, and sentimentality everybody in the movie is very sincere and that's what makes it so charming to watch.
  3. 1.Guardians of the Galaxy 2.Boyhood 3.Godzilla 4.The Fault in Our Stars 5.Interstellar 6.Gone Girl 7.Whiplash 8.Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 9.Transcendence 10.Foxcatcher
  4. There were quite a bit of people that started videoing it when they realized what I was doing, so don't so it may pop up on youtube somewhere, Idk.
  5. Because my file that held my ranking order of the 2013 movies got corrupted I have had to post-pone that list to whenever I feel like (or have the time) to remake the list (which could very possibly be never). So I have a Top 250 list that I had made not to long ago (because I always felt like I needed one or something) and I decided I'd do a countdown of it, just cause. So anyways, here it is. Not these aren't necessarily what I think are the best movies of all time, but are my favorite. 250 Ben-Hur Ben-Hur was a groundbeaking epic for it's time including some fantastic set pieces and climatic action. The sprawling story is told with such spiritual depth that it really is no wonder it won as many Oscars as it did during its season. While the soundtrack is a bit overbearing at times (like most pre 70 and 80s movies are) it is still great. It's fun to watch and honestly that Chariot scene is probably the sole reason it made this list.
  6. So I just got back from a local open mic coffee house, I won over the crowd by singing Wrecking Ball opera style.
  7. I bet 2 people eachMr Peabody is #1 next weekend 50 points I bet Need For Speed under 60m DOM 50 points
  8. Some random IMDb user said he has a friend that Pricewaterhousecoopers LLC and told him that Philomena is getting the big prize. I trust him because he is a stranger on the internet and is being 100% honest.
  9. I heard it through the grapevine that Philomena is picking up the Best Picture win on sunday.

  11. Something happened to my list, the file got corrupted and I have been planning for a Best 250 of all time list anyways, so I'm going to cancel the rest of this due to technical errors. I may or may not post my full list for 2013 sometime later but...
  12. 3 horror movies in October? I mean it's October, but I am going to bet they eat at each other.
  13. Obviously it'd be preferential to preserve every film, but unless a workable solution is come up with the priority should be one preserving the historically important films, the influential films, and the critical and financial successes. It's kind of like people who hoard everything they've ever owned in their attic. While it would be ideal not to let anything go, it's just not possible to preserve everything. Save the valuable items and let the the forgettable junk be an afterthought only of there is room.As the article said, with film reels this isn't a problem, but with how expensive preserving digital films is long term, until a long term solution is made focus most of the effort on making sure the important films (cultural influence, financial success, and critical/academy success) are preserved
  14. What I was wondering is why they don't just store the home video version (DVD, Bluray, or 3D BluRay) save a player or a computer that can read them and then update them (say the next Bluray) when they come out, because honestly Bluray won't be totally replaced for a long time (even if a higher quality player comes out in the future). It's not necessarily the best way to preserve thing but it seems like an option. But again that seems to simple and so it's probably been thought of and discredited for whatever reason. Also, don't preserve every single film, preserve the critical and financial hits.
  15. Pretty much like the people in denial about Climate Change, despite being brutally obvious they choose to ignore it.
  16. It also has to do with the fact at how fast technology comes out nowadays, pretty soon we'll start getting two new iphones a year.
  17. That was a very intriguing read, and presents very important (and generally unknown) problems looming in society, not just for film, but for our archives of this age in general.

  19. Ehhh, not a huge fan with some of their choices, or at least how they back them up. What doesn't make sense is they'll talk bad about one film but then rank it higher than a film they thought was really good. There isn't a consistency in their reasoning and their ranking.
  20. I'd agree Pixar's been on the downhill since Finding Nemo, but that's just because Finding Nemo is my favorite animated movie of all time.
  21. Except the only reason I thought the Dark knight was really good instead of decent was the Joker
  22. I did a recount on the votes, it turns out you are right. Magic Mike actually scored 0 points and didn't place on the list, I sorry for the confusion, here is the real number 1 #1
