  1. It'll probably jump like 50% on friday and we'll all come down back to earth, i'm telling ya!
  2. These 2nd weekend predictions are getting pretty wild. Almost too good to be true. I'm trying to keep expectations in check but you guys are making it difficult.
  3. Distant colony setting, taking place between 1 and 2, nasty violence, all get a thumbs-up from me. Group of teenagers.... again.... iffy. But really, any concept can be good, what matters is the execution.
  4. Yeah, i'm not crazy about the "teenie" cast but let us at least wait for a trailer before writing the project off.
  5. My quick and dirty prediction based on the opening would be 600m - 650m worldwide. Unless China or legs surprises, then it could do more.
  6. Good question. At first glance to me it seems a little underwhelming considering it is not that much more than its DOM debut while being day and date in most of the important markets except China and Japan i think and the fact Dune Part 1's OS gross was 3-times its DOM haul. Sure, it had to deal with a simultaneous release on HBO Max only in America and the sequel is losing Russia as a market but still.
  7. Dances with Wolves is one of my favorite movies, this gives me nostalgic vibes from back in the day when i watched it. Looking very much forward to another Costner western.
  8. That's still no guarantee but okay, i missed the part where it says "The Hollywood Reporter"...
  9. Just because somebody wrote something on twitter doesn't mean it's true.
  10. You can never predict the Oscars, especially not at the very beginning of the year. Maybe some other movie comes along we haven't even on the radar now that gets all the momentum. I get it, fans want to be validated, but really, Oscars or no Oscars, the movie will be the movie. Don't stress over it.
  11. Sure, prestige helps and i'm not saying it must do a billion. As for budgets, sequels costing less is not a thing that usually happens. Seeing that we don't get official figures it's a pretty moot point. EDIT: All i'm saying is i want there to be zero doubts about Dune 3 happening and as little studio meddling or constraints as possible.
  12. Studios are not making blockbusters to barely break even. First Dune still had to deal with the Covid aftermath, pretty sure WB is looking for signifficant growth here. And i'm sure it would also be a little motivational for the director to see his film being enjoyed by a lot of people.
  13. Looking good. I'm between two places, excitement about the film and trepidation whether box office will see a signifficant uptick. I want Dune 2 to be a clear sign to the studio and Villeneuve to move forward with Dune 3 ASAP.
  14. Yeah, yeah, it looks to be pretty decent but i'm not convinced yet, i dunno, maybe i should rather watch Madame Web, help me out here, people...
  15. Reminds me somewhat of Cloverfield. Looking forward to it.
  16. Not a fan of watching full scenes beforehand but the little i saw before turning it off Villeneuve's mastery of building suspense was on play. It appears to be a very simple scene, nothing fancy, no score, just good actors acting, yet it manages to stir anticipation really well.
  17. I like some of the things i'm hearing and i'm looking forward to it, even though the cast gives me pause. They look like actors from Beverly Hills 90210.
  18. Big fan of the movie but can't say i loved the score to be honest. While it was successful in creating an otherwordly musical soundscape, it just lacked that majestic theme, you know, which gives you goosebumps when you hear it and is an integral part of any good epic. In that sense, i hope Villeneuve is correct and the score in Part 2 is superior. Never watched the TV adaptation of Children of Dune but the score is pretty ace...
  19. Probably die hard fans. Question is, will it spillover to the average Joe. I have seen couple times where people jumped the gun only for presales to slow down.
  20. Are there any tangible indications for a big jump in box office or are we talking about a gut feeling? I'd love for some of those predictions to come true, just don't want to get too excited only to be disappointed in the end.
