Chris Stuckman: "i feel like we've become so binary, it's either good or it's bad, it's great or it's awful and there's no room for nuance anymore which i just think it's awful" This is so true. Some folks have already decided for themselves that the movie is not worth their money because some score on the internet is not at least 80 so it cannot possibly be good. On the other hand there are movies that get put on a pedestal like they are the 2nd coming of Christ.

BABYLON 5 | REMASTERED | WATCH NOW ON HBO MAX
Elessar replied to DeeCee's topic in Streaming, TV Series, & VOD Movies
I soooooo hope the reboot happens and it gets the treatment it deserves. This one was one awesome show but in some respects it's kinda outaded now. I'd love that writing but with a little more modern sensibilities and of course the latest special effects. -
While both creatively bankrupt (TLJ is not as "original" as some make it out to be) TFA at least manages to be a pretty solid movie. So does the much maligned Solo, btw. The less said about TroS the better, they seemingly had no clue how to end the trilogy and just winged it. Rogue One remains the best Disney Star Wars movie. That was my contribution to the Star Wars topic. I'll see myself out...

In one country, namely UK. About 40 countries have approved it, including EU and Japan. In the US it will go to court and experts are saying Microsoft will probably win. The deal will go through.

Reading the forums, one might get the impression some participants are even bigger cowards. It's true, Studios are reluctant about spending big bucks on unproven properties / films. But sometimes it does happen. How does the forum react? "how could they spent so much money on this?! it will flop..."

Mario was as much a kids movies as it was a movie for the millennials that grew up with the games. It played on that nostalgia. And the interest was there, no matter the reviews. Similarly, Indy is all about reliving the old adventures. My point is, if average Joe wanna see Indy, he will see it. Even though it's an old IP, it still has some pull. And unlike Solo, it features the original actor. As for the Crystal Skull comparison, one cannot really compare without taking into account the context. It was the first Indy since the old films, it had that goodwill bonus. I'm not saying DoD will win the summer or anything like that but some people going bellow $200m DOM is a bit much imho. Maybe i will eat crow, time will tell...

Did we already forget, Mario just did gangbusters with pretty poor reviews? We'll see about critics consensus when more reviews come in and more importantly, how audiences will react. Maybe critics are just too cynical these days to enjoy a simple adventure romp. As much as i love Indy, the old movies are just that, nothing more. And sometimes they get viewed at through rose colored glasses. Temple of Doom is really not that great. Anyway, as far as i'm concerned, i'm still looking forward to Ford doing his schtick. Maybe i'm just easy to please. p.s. I think some of you are way overreacting. Reviews do impact the opening but not as much as some may think, i believe. As for online polls, they might not always reflect the "real" interest amongst the general audience, especially for an old IP like Indy. Tbh, i'm not overly concerned, it is the last Indy with Ford anyway, even if it is the movie of the year.

Just found out about it, got the trailer on my youtube feed. I'm pretty impressed. Looks like my kind of movie.
