  1. I love me some big historical epics and Ridley Scott is seemingly the only one who keeps doing them. Here's hoping he lives and works for another 20 years. ;)

Gladiator is the goat, one of my favorite movies. Of course i'm excited for the sequel, knowing full well that reaching the greatness of the first is probably not in the cards. Still, going back to ancient Rome will be a treat.

Pretty much every movie has an initial much longer cut, it's not really notable.

The assembly cut talk is as old as people complaining about CGI in trailers. Not saying all CGI is perfect but often during a movie the "fault finding" takes a backseat as long as the movie keeps you entertained.

Flash strikes me as kind of a D&D, based on reactions. A fun adventure if you care for these type of films. I'm basically here just for Keaton.

No they weren´t, literally no one was expecting a good D&D movie watching those trailers because they was selling big action sequences and random jokes, but where the movie really shine was in the interaction between the characters and the humor dynamic between them

The promotional material did also feature that.

´´Now we’re getting word that another record-breaking test-screening occured yesterday and, shocker, the response was enthusiastic. This was said to be the Final Cut of the film and the scores were “through the roof,” again.´´

I´m honestly convinced WB is selling this movie wrong and following the mistakes Paramount made promoting D&D

Hoping the second trailer actually shows what´s so good about it, instead of just the huge scale of the action

Unlike D&D, this one has people in spandex and capes. The movie will do fine.

Look, LOTR is my favorite movie series ever but if you think there won’t be a LOTR remake in movie or TV form in 15 years max then then you are crazy (I can bet you Amazon will jump at that as soon as ROP wraps).

Let's wait and see, i guess.

I mean, i wouldn't say it's impossible, but i doubt it. That shit is so expensive, i'm not even sure ROP will make it to the end if ratings keep dropping. They might just write the whole LOTR deal off.

I wish I had a dollar for everytime you say this. Repeating it over and over and over. I love Keaton in Batman. Its a draw for me that he in The Flash. Others will think the same. Some will not. Think its worth a little boost.

Indeed. Keaton is the reason Flash was trending and he is the reason i might drag my ass to a theater near me to watch this even though i'm not that big on CBMs.

That wasn't my point heh. It's just funny to me that Hollywood spent $150M on such an unproven IP cinematically (besides the aforementioned failed piece of schlock) that is largely considered a punchline for nerds in general. I'm mostly just sad as a Chris Pine stan that this is looking to be yet another bomb for him lol.

This discussion always comes up when something doesn't pan out, usually after the fact. We should be glad studios are still taking bets on unproven IPs or even filmmakers once in a while instead of critising them.
