I really don't care too much if GotG gets 1st place this weekend. For the box office's sake, I wish TMNT luck. I just want GotG to cross $45m+ this weekend. That's all I wish.

If TMNT reaches those heights, that bodes well for Lionsgate and their Power Rangers adaptation.

Yeah, with The Expendables leak and the less than stellar reviews I'm not expecting much from it. I think otherwise it could've flirted with $30m OW which would have been decent. I'm still hopping for one more surprise hit this August. Guardians is huge and it's fairly safe to assume TMNT will cross $100m (I personally predict $140 DOM). I can see Let's be Cops surprising (maybe $100m???) and I think the Wednesday release will help especially if WOM is good. The Giver will probably be lucky to hit $50m but you never know... The final two weekends of Summer are pretty standard with Sin City being the only movie I think could possibly cross $20m OW.

I agree! Although I'm not convinced TMNT deserves success yet (will probably see it with my nephew this weekend) I am a part of the August over July 2014 thread.

If this makes $45m+ this weekend, I think $300m is definitely possible. It will be a struggle but doable. I'm really rooting for this!

Hobbit is coming out in a Wednesday so that won't happen. But Mockingjay obviously has this in the bag along with it's other tricks. Katniss is coming for the box office.

I think it will cross $100m but make less than CA:TWS overall domestic. Maybe $240m total.

And I'm still planning on waking up in the morning to a 42m OD on its way to just over 101 for the OW title so far 2014.

Hobbit opens on a Wednesday. 90m ow would be incredible with a Wednesday opening.

Keep in mind that is TCM: The Beginning. Not the 2003 remake (which I think is underrated)

I've been wondering but haven't done much investigating as to why ASM2 is pretty universally disliked more than ASM. I thought they were both equally disappointing, irrelevant, and unnecessary. ASM2 does become a little more clustered but overall I would say that I found it more entertaining than ASM. Probably mostly because of the retelling of the origin story in ASM.

Just got back. I loved it! Thoroughly entertaining with great characters/cast. I approve of it getting the biggest OW of the summer and year so far.

Sitting in the movie theater. Movie starts in 5 minutes! I'm pumped!
