  1. Hmm... Fair. The Internet is really, really great... For porgs. WTF? Not so much behind the scenes as recently distracted by work.
  2. I wish I could put my hair in Leia buns. I'd need to have hair, though. The things you don't miss until they're gone. C'est la vie.
  3. Seeing the trailer on the big screen prior to Star Wars and the eye size really didn't bother me. It's a bit odd looking, sure, but it isn't jarring like it was when I watched it on YouTube. Great musical choice, too.
  4. Second viewing still left me really stoked. I love the film. And even though I took a quick bathroom break right at the start of the casino sequence, overall I even liked that part. My brother was with me and he liked it, too. The only part that bothered him was Leia in space. Not so much because of how it was presented, but more because of the reality of Leia being alive while Fisher isn't around to play her. And he agreed that killing her off because the actor is dead is a bit tacky. If they had gone down that route, the impact would have been highest by switching her with Holdo's sacrifice. However in that case, they wouldn't have been able to have her get the final meeting with Luke, which was a great moment, so I think they ultimately made the correct choice, even if it makes things a little more difficult for episode 9. I think this is how I'd rank all the films: 1. Rogue One 2. The Last Jedi 3. A New Hope 4. The Empire Strikes Back 5. Return of the Jedi 6. The Force Awakens 7. The Phantom Menace 8. Attack of the Clones 9. Revenge of the Sith Although when you get down to it, the first five are all really close and the exact order of those might change depending on how I'm feeling on a given day. The PT also is clustered pretty closely. TFA stands pretty firmly in between them, though. I think it probably has the best first act of the entire series, but other than that it's still mostly just eh. I enjoy it, but it doesn't pop for me the way the ones above it does.
  5. Picking overall reactions from a single audience is pretty ludicrous. For instance, I saw it as part of a TFA double feature. Pretty much guaranteed hardcore fans and such. Plus, we were primed by TFA, which is an acknowledged fanservicey crowd pleaser. And the audience absolutely loved TLJ. I mean they were ecstatic throughout. Lots of laughs. Lots of cheers. Multiple moments of applause. If I was going to project from that that the response and WOM was going to be through the roof, I'd be wrong. Similarly, people who are saying that because their audience was muted doesn't mean that all or even most audiences will be. What we're getting here is anecdotes. And the plural of anecdote is not data.
  6. I dig it. Johnson really wasn't inclined to make a movie in the "by fans, for fans" vein that Abrams was. There were multiple moments that genuinely surprised me. The whole Rey/Kylo/Snoke sequence because I was in the thrall of it, worried as fuck that they were actually going to do Reylo while still enjoying how cool and cinematic it was. When it wrapped up, I was relieved and amazed and full of questions. It's been a long time since a film made me really excited about where a sequel will go.
  7. Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)

Yeah. I pretty much loved that. There was a part in the middle where it got really emotionally complex for me, because it looked like it was about to go down a road I would have absolutely hated, but then it switched it up on me. There were multiple moments where I was drawn in to the point of getting a nice emotional punch. Rollicking ride. Can't wait to see it again.

  9. Man, I do love it when the hate brigade descends upon anything that's halfway popular.
  10. That's what happens on the day I get offered a job. I completely forget about the Winter Game. Missing the weekly questions aren't so bad, since there's a makeup. Missing on the SOTM, though, might doom me.
  11. Yes, they totally changed their plans for this film after it wrapped production based on the response to JL. That makes perfect sense.
