Hey all! Been a long time since I've been here on the forums (joined during Frozen's run hence my username) but figured I'd come back since I'm interested in TWOW's box office. I always figured 3b WW was very unrealistic. I wouldn't expect those numbers as a possibility until Avatar 3 if anything. I still stand by my prediction of a 150 mil OW, with around 650 mil DOM and a 1.7-2.2 billion WW. Not enough to overtake the first, but hopefully enough that we get 4 and 5, and really in the end that's what I care about. As long as it makes enough to get Avatar 4 and 5, I'll be happy.

I have one complaint about that. I love DVD special features. You don't get that on streaming services.

Tangled the Series made it work. Ready As I'll Ever Be is such an AWESOME Disney song.

I don't think people were necessarily setting themselves up for another Let It Go, because let's face it, only songs like "Reflection" (and potentially I'll Make a Man Out of You"), "Circle of Life" or "Beauty and the Beast" can be said to have a breakout value comparable to Let It Go (for their pre-Internet time period). Not that all the other songs in Disney's library aren't great, just that there are those select stand-outs. What I think people were expecting though—myself among them—was for the songs to be catchy. The kind of song that you're gleefully humming out of the theater because it gets so stuck in your head. Frozen 1 had a ton like that. Let It Go, Love is an Open Door, For the First Time in Forever, In Summer, Do You Wanna Build a Snowman... all of them have such a Broadway bounciness and/or energy that it's hard not to have those songs be ear-worms. Frozen 2... kinda has that in some respects, but not much. All is Found - Gorgeous, very much has the feel of something like You'll Be in My Heart. Not catchy but a sweet lullaby. Some Things Never Change - This one has that Disney catchy-ness, and I swear it sounds like something from a parade at Disney World. Into the Unknown - the catchy stand-out yeah, but this song? It's hard to sing! Let It Go had some tough high notes at the end, but that was just at the end. ItU takes that high note at the end of LiG and has it be sung multiple times in the chorus of the song. Let It Go was catchy, ear-wormy, applicable to many, and easily singable. This one is pretty tied to Elsa's powers lyric-wise, and a lot harder to sing if you actually want to hit all the notes properly. When I'm Older - this one has the catchy upbeat tone of In Summer, good song Lost in the Woods - the actual song is pretty nice, but it being like an 80's ballad feels kind of out of place (especially with the accompanying visuals). Show Yourself - now THIS is the kind of "iconic singable Disney song" kind of vibe as the rest of the Disney Renaissance and the Revival have. It's incredible, easily singable, epic, and relatable without being too heavily tied to the specific character experience like Into the Unknown was. Definitely up to the quality I'd expect from the first one. The Next Right Thing - I love this song. I do. But I think this song more than any other is an example of why I don't think Frozen 2 will get a sing-along release. Why? Because it's freaking depressing. The beginning lyrics especially are probably the most depressing lyrics I've ever heard (easily from Disney, possibly ever). It's slow, the beginning sounds borderline suicidal, it's just more like something out of Les Mis rather than Disney. True it gets more hopeful at the end, but considering it's the last song in the film it's a bleak one to end on and sing. This is certainly a Les Mis-vibe song, and Les Mis didn't exactly get a widespread sing-along release (it seems it did get one at some point though, so who knows?)

It doesn't come on Disney+ til then? Aww. I really need to catch up on the series, but DANG "Ready As I'll Ever Be" is a fantastic song.

That was a remake of one of the most beloved animated films of all time, plus it had Emma Watson (I love Emma ordinarily but they should have cast someone who's a trained singer), plus a few new songs. It was guaranteed to do big numbers.

Also I think it being set in New Orleans wasn't a bit draw. In comparison to something like a fantasy world (much of Disney's fairy tales), Imperial China (Mulan), Paris (Hunchback), New Orleans just seems... underwhelming and boring (at least that was my main issue with it at the time it came out, New Orleans was just a bleh setting to me).

Yeah, the new Lion King hadpretty meh reviews and look what happened with it.

Then again, almost everything else WDAS has put out this decade was an original film. Sequels automatically have the expectation factor of living up to the original so it's no wonder most sequels are seen as lesser (Toy Story 2 and 3 being the exceptions)

This is what I'm assuming from that review just taking in the emojis and assuming it goes in order: -starts out really sweet -has some humor in the early minutes -something concerning happens, tense and surprising stuff with the four elements -some humor and surprising stuff around the middle -entertaining songs especially in the middle -really funny part at some point past the middle -a whole lot of ice magic awesomeness -power of love comes into play again -the water horse and Bruni the lizard play a part in the ending climax -ending with a whole lot of awesome stuff and sparkly magic.

Also the Lopezes who did Frozen's songs did the songs for WtP, so that's a bonus! Also Jennifer Lee (who's head of Disney now since Lasster left) said recently they're definitely up to doing more 2D animated films in the future, so there's hope!

Also to be fair, I think the only times it's been unanimously agreed a sequel was better than the original (for a stand-alone movie that is) was Toy Story 2 and Shrek 2.

Got my tickets! I guess a lot of people don't know that the tickets are available already considering all but about 5 of the seats in my chosen showing were still open, lol. Do any of you have recliner seats in your theaters?

My sibling and I are really hoping to get to see this soon! Also, while I haven't seen the second one yet, one thing that I love about Maleficent is that it's a Disney story retelling that does something completely different with the source material. It doesn't just try to be a copy of the original (looking at you, Lion King), and it doesn't claim to follow the same plot as the original while then going and making a whole much of unneeded changes and tossing out beloved characters (looking at you big-time, upcoming-Mulan-movie). It takes the characters we're familiar with and puts them in a completely new setting and situation. It's basically like an alternate adaptation with the characters rather than being just a cash-grab remake.

Great to hear they're implementing new technologies! Hoping Alita gets picked back up eventually though, I loved that movie.

Well, we know from past experiences that Cameron is good at sinking ships.

Looking at that pic with Anna and Olaf, I feel like that could be used as an ad for Splash Mountain at Disney World. XD

After listening to The Next Right Thing and hearing how beautifully somber it is, its placement in the film judging by the list is concerning... Into the Unknown sounds AWESOME though. EDIT: I just remembered how in the main trailer Elsa says "What would I do without you?" and Anna says "You'll always have me." It seems like usually when characters have a discussion like that, one of them dies or leaves... but they wouldn't have Elsa or anyone leave or die or anything, right?... ... Right? Then again after Frozen nearly had Anna die, Frozen 2 doesn't hate a rating yet, and Endgame had its big spoiler, I'm not so sure anymore...

Same! The indigenous people and the blowing leaves really gave me Pocahontas vibes! Also that lizard is dang adorable.

Whenever I see people say "being gay is a choice", I think "Okay, let's see you change your orientation from straight to gay and back right now." I think most of the time (if not all), religion is the driving force behind that opinion.

I do agree most of the time, but Google wasn't giving me a lot of results tbh so I figured I'd ask here in case there were some Nordic history buffs. Cool, learned something new today! Thanks so much for the info and hopefully that will calm some people down. Also that guy has a crazy awesome name, just saying. I suppose that's true. It is nice for people to have characters they identify with after all. On another note, is there any idea of when the next main trailer is coming out? I'm hyped for more news! Also do you think they'll release the full clip of Into the Unknown before the film's release, similar to how they did with Let It Go? ItU seems to be the movie's big song by the sound of it.

That's what I'm thinking to be honest, or maybe he's a new staff hired by the kingdom. Hoping he doesn't turn out evil like Hans, he seems nice and the "twist villain" plot is really getting old now.
