Australia is also by the sea, and we have one of the highest per capita attendance rates.Portugal is on the seaside. I would go to movies much if I had the sea as an alternative.

So, the total admissions in Portugal are only just over 10m? That's a below average attendance rate. It's significantly higher n Australia, at over 4 per person.Piracy is a monster in Portugal and it is killing the theaters. We are 11 million people. In average, only 200,000 go to the theaters every weekend. That is HORRIBLE.I rarely download movies. Only in extreme situations.
-
On the contrary, it'd make it more affordable for families.Piracy is for free. The prices aren't killing anything. If you put the tickets cheaper, people still won't go. Piracy... it's free!

Disappointing, but also riveting.Another disappointing weekend

That's great for MI4, everything else ranges from unremarkable to just poor.
-
DC isn't that bad. But whatever, to each their own.
-
What were we expecting again? It is terrible.
-
Isn't the number for Dragon Tattoo good?
-
All you people are being so dramatic.
-
I'm very impressed by MI4's numbers.
-
It's not about disliking Bay.

Maybe some other Australian people could back me up (or not), but I swear the whole rudeness thing is pretty much non-existant in Australia.

I love the movie-going experience though. And popcorn and coke tend to taste the best at the movies.See Lab I'd rather spend 20-25 on a blu ray and watch a movie on my own schedule
-
I know.Mind you it was in V-Max (which I guess is kind of like LieMax) so that added to it, but student prices in regular cinemas are still $15.50.
-
I saw MI4 on Friday, and the ticket cost me $15, after having $4.50 taken off through a gift card.Yep. That's for 2D. It's $13 for 3D, which I have no interest in anyway.
-
Is $10 really the price of a ticket where you live?

Then don't see a film that you know for sure will suck.I think it's amazing how you find the time/money to go to the movies as often as you do. I mainly don't have the time. I definitely have plenty of cash to blow it on that kind of stuff, but the risk is too high. Why spend $10 on a movie you know is probably going to suck? That line of questioning applies to 95% of the mainstream stuff being put out by Hollywood these days.
And if that applies to 95% of mainstream stuff today, it applied to 95% of mainstream stuff 10 years ago as well.

People never talk in the movies I see.

Oh please. Every year has it's ups and downs. The movies this year as good as last year's which were as good as the previous year's years which were as good as 2002's.Of course one way to counter the box office recession is to make better movies.

Estimated admissions for the MI series here:
1: 2,070,561
2: 2,679,157
3: 1,066,957
-
Only 81.8m? That's a lot to make up over 13 days.
-
So, would you say >90m admissions? The average price shouldn't be dramatically higher than last year because 3D has been less dominant.

Or it could be totally right. What's Sony's track record for predicting drops?
