Hook is Indiana Jones?????????
VFX look OK, but otherwise it looks terrible.
And I HATE that what Barrie describes are definently a Native American Tribe has been turned into some nondescript tribal people.
I HATE Political Correctness like that.
The term you want isn't "political correctness". It's "whitewashing".
I see this one being a flop. (Then again, I wasn't expecting much from Alice, either, so…)

You can't use different years though. You have to take a sample from 2009.
Or 1998. That was the year Armageddon opened to 9.7M on Wednesday, July 1, and made it to 54M by the end of the weekend.

Adam Sandler.
She named drop him or implied it was him when she said NO/fuck off to a very sexist casting call for one of his movies.
Her exact words were "name of male star rhymes with Madam Panhandler".

Frankly, right now I'm more excited about the short than the feature.

Duh, otherwise I'd have made 1999 Angelina Jolie fall in love with me.
What's your point? That these people really DO feel emotional bonds with James Horner? It's bogus, but you can go ahead and pretend it. I'm not playing along, though.
My point is that in between "someone I knew and loved personally" and "complete stranger I don't really care about", there is a wide range of how much a person can care about someone. My point is that your claim of "they feel nothing, save for the tinge of excitement they get knowing there's an opportunity to strike a pose as a morally sensitive person" is both wrong and insulting.

I'm saying they feel nothing, save for the tinge of excitement they get knowing there's an opportunity to strike a pose as a morally sensitive person.
They can take all the sad face selfies and list all the movies/songs/playoff games they enjoyed from such-and-such. Cool. I don't believe for a second they have an empathetic bond with these people. (And if they do, they're probably schizophrenics.)
You do not get to decide what other people do and don't feel.

It may not be the same as when someone you personally know dies, but when someone involved with treasured memories (to put it in Inside Out terms, possibly even core memories) dies, it hits a lot harder than the death of a random stranger.

So, just short of $300M for the first week.
-
JW will hit $300M by Friday?
As of Tuesday, it's at 258M. I'd be surprised if it didn't make it to 300M on Thursday.

Because Sith's 373 instantly translates to 600 million.
RIGHT...
Star Wars will depend heavily on early reviews. If the consensus is that it's the second coming of The Empire Strikes Back, it'll win the year easily. If it's the second coming of The Phantom Menace, not so much.

Halfway through 2015, and all but two of 2014's movies have closed. All in all, not an impressive showing.
And here's 2015 through yesterday:
It looks like I may have to raise the top of the chart this year.

As far as I know the book is self published (crap?), and is mainly liked by the unwashed masses because of its... sassy language (a part of which we were treated to in the trailer).
The book was originally self-published online, and gained a sufficiently large cult following that a real publishing house took notice and brought out a dead-tree edition last year. It is decidedly not crap; it was seen as a serious contender for a Hugo award until the award committee ruled that its initial 2013 release made it ineligible this year.
