Excluding Thursday previews, this is the first film to decisively conquer the admissions record since...the 1980s?

There was an insane amount of energy in my crowd for the "Avengers Assemble Scene" w/ the music. My audience applauded 4 or 5 times during this 3 minute bit. Legit half the theater joined Black Panther when he screamed, I was worried they were about get out of their seats and charge the screen
-Thor has become a megastar. Hemsworth is s good here, just hilarious. Fat Thor, "No no give me that, you have the little one"
-On that note, Marvel has mastered the silly humor so well- the Hulk Tacos, Cap's "I could do this all day" - "I know", Stark's interactions w/ his kid, 99% of Thor's lines, Scarlett Witch "You took everything from me!!" and Thanos's hilarious "I don't even know who you are!!"
-The women team up ends poorly when they proceed to get wrecked; they give Captain Marvel a cool moment where she is head butted and doesn't react, but then Thanos just kicks her away like NBD
-The middle and very end of the film just DRAGS. Did not need to be as long as it is.

153 million.
The most anticipated film of all time. A record that will last a decade.

reminding me of the patriots when they had moss, no more awe, just laughter

Admittedly, I do feel like a Force Awakens-style Harry Potter sequel could beat Endgame, but that's something WB is probably saving until the late 20s or 30s.
Globally, perhaps, but domestically? Potter was like Twilight on steroids; insanely big die hard fans who would lead to huge midnight and opening day grossest but then they would just drop like a rock.
Potter was clearly being Batman, Star Wars, and Marvel when we last saw him.

Disney has Endgame, Lion King, Frozen 2, and Star Was all this year.
Monopoly, time to break them up.

Potters $43.1m was w/ with just midnights too. Add more screenings and 8 years of inflation?
Potter 9 in the early 2020s will be HUGE

I was on the old forum for that. He took a drubbing over Ang Lee's Hulk. Hard to believe that was 16 years ago!! I feel old.
Funny, I was like 14 years old when that happened. I got into the box speculation game quite young...

I really enjoyed that link to be honest.
My favorite part was seeing people already in 2007 saying "comic book fatigue" was going to hurt Iron Man.
Most of those people predicting seemed clueless. I was not into CBM back then, but enjoyed them well enough and I remember hearing talk about IM 6+ months out.
I made that thread/box office call after the 2007 comic-con trailer leaked in July, 2007. Transformers had just exploded (as I had predicted); popcorn robot action was super hot. The leaked IRON MAN trailer was just a blend of RDJ being hilarious and Iron Man suiting up...the final shot was him chasing w/ the jets and breaking the sound barrier.
One of the easiest calls ever, so obvious people would eat it up. Had no idea what it would eventually become, though.

Fucking nuts that Marvel made a much better Justice League series than WB did by swapping Bats with Iron Man, Superman with Captain America, Joker with Loki and Luther with Thanos.
Really just fucking amazing. 😤
