Solo Superman films are legit. cursed with poor release dates. Stiff competition absolutely overwhelmed Superman Returns and Man of Steel.
-
Twister is like ID4 and Armageddon. Absurd story but perfect cast and emotionally compelling storylines more than offset the absurdity of the premise. It is STILL awesome.

Powell's character absolutely seems to have to have the potential to annoy some people. 1980s Cruise would be seen as cringe in 2020s, and Affleck went for the same vibe during Affleck overload in the early 2000s which almost killed his career completely. It is a tight rope to walk.
-
So they made Powell's Top Gun character a tornado chaser in his spare time.

I think "ensemble casting" is becoming a bit of a draw in this age of few movie stars and yeah, they have hit home runs on every pick here. It is definitely adding the all-important internet goodwill to the project. That Corenswet looks like he was made in a lab to play Superman definitely helps.

Capitalism.
You mean a huge built in audience ready to spend their money on JURASSIC branded entertainment?

Reviews will play a big role here. Mid $60s seem like a solid floor but if it gets raves, it could get $90m+,

Moderation
I'm not sure why I have to explain this, but somebody posting something from Reddit does not break any rules nor is it a bannable offense. If anything, it's pretty darn rude to insult somebody for something so inoffensive. Like if you shared something you made on YouTube or Instagram and got mocked by other people, I don't think you would like that.
If you don't care for such content, you can either put the user who did that on your Ignore list or just scroll by the post. You're adults, so I think you are able to just scroll past stuff you don't like. Anybody who posts disrespectful attitudes like these will see warning points and/or threadbans.
If you wish to talk about this with me further, please talk with me privately.

Zelda Williams aka Robin's daughter? Hoping this is hugely successful.

It's a week-long gap and it's the summer. Both films will have a max opening of like $120 mil (and Im being very generous). It's not going to matter.
I would argue that both have potential above that number depending on a number of things, no way to slice it, it would be stupid to release them 7 days apart. Exact same audience in all corners of the globe.

JURASSIC PARK is a great film period anchored by good-to-great performances in every aspect of film making, especially casting Newman as the bumbling embezzler. JURASSIC WORLD is a great popcorn film anchored by fantastic performances by Pratt and BDH.
LOST WORLD and JP3 were blah. FALLEN KINGDOM could not have been worse and should be retconned. Ruining the original island, making Hammond and Masrani dumb enough to build the dark on an ACTIVE VOLCANO? Dominion, good grief...

Superman: Legacy will move back a week to July 18, the mid/late July slot WB is religious about.
No harm, no foul.
Where it should have been all along, and the exact same day a relatively popular and modestly success WB superhero film opened once upon a time...

I think Legacy beats this DOM just because I expect that to leg this out easily. Worldwide, probably this but Idk if it makes a billion either.
One of these may well move.

A prequel set in the early 2000s as they capture the Dinos to make way for Jurassic World would be dope.

Cavill hate is ridiculous. If Cavill Superman vs. The Rock Black Adam was our lead summer movie, it would be opening to $150m+.

How do we think Oppenehimer's R rating affected presales? I would assume its a bit less was up friendly as a result in comparison to something more teen friendly like Dune.

can we update the title to "Back on top since capitalism is the GOAT 😎"?

@WarnerBros is the only studio that should release this.

They pretty much did with the first one too.

You mean that isn't based on a true story? Maximus, Commodus, Marcus A, etc?
Spoiler😊

Kylie needs to pimp this on her insta asap

Margot was great but obviously not Oscar worthy. Her best roles remain I, Tonya and Wolf of Wall Street.

Josh Hartnett would be perfect for the lead

A prequel set during the construction of Jurassic Park or Jurassic World would be badass AF. Imagine following a team of hunters tasked with capturing the loose Dinos all over the island?

Phoenix was utterly brilliant as well. And the script quite good. And numerous other leads would have succeeded there. Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas were eyed and both would have been tremendous. Bruce Willis was at top of him game back then and would have been perfect. Jude Law begged for the part of Commodus but they opted for JP, Law would have been tremendous too.
I have always felt Gladiator was similar to Batman Begins in that is a perfect "prestige popcorn" blockbuster with strong enough themes and developed enough characters to be a prestige film but its at its core an obvious popcorn crowd pleaser.
This film might have been even better than it already was had the lead been Antonio Banderas and the villain played by young Jude Law. That would have been magnetic.
