  1. Highlight of my lifeless experience with DUNE 2 was this trailer playing and audience member loudly saying "BASED ON A TRUE STORY" which prompted a lot of laughs.
  2. Scorsesee clearly isn't an overly compelling draw these days, have to think the days of his getting blank checks are 100% over. 1000%. The film is boring. There is not much action at all. All the big money shots were in the trailer. Butler is in the film for 5 min. Chalamet is wooden as a wall. Zendaya is the only one bringing any real energy, though their romance is historic levels of bad, zero chemistry between them at all. Feel like this is aa more widely held opinion than some are being open about bc they don't want to be "that guy" or "the girl" but there is no emotional hook to this film at all, legit. zero.
  3. If Nolan returns to WB, they legit will have an monopoly on the premier modern talent
  4. Holy crap what did anyone see in this movie? Sadly I found this to be dreadfully slow. It needed a lot more action. Like Part 1, not sure how much of the mainstream audience is going to find its way to the series through this film. Thank god that Zendaya, Anton Chigurh, and Josh Brolin are able to inject hints of life in this because the vibe so somber and nobody looks like they're having fun, which is a giant problem for a 2 1/2 hour film. There are too many characters that feel pointless. Who on Earth could compare this to icons like THE DARK KNIGHT or EMPIRE STRIKES BACK? The entrainment value just is not there. The first 120 min drag and drag and drag but then the final 40 minutes or so are beyond rushed. The big battle and final fight at the end both fall soo flat. As others have said, the romance is exceptionally weak and if not for Zendaya's natural charisma, it would have been a total slog as Chalamet is wooden as a wall. Doesn't flash an ounce of the "next Hartnett Leo" charisma he supposedly has. The end is obviously rushed, as was mentioned, but the complete lack of emotional depth to their relationship makes Chalamet randomly proposing marriage to the random girl from the beginning feel like a huge "shrug". Butler and Pugh are also in this movie for a total of like 5 minutes combined. Both are characters are horrifically developed. Butler is like a poor mans Darth Maul. Wish I enjoyed this more but man this was a colossal nothing burger for me.
  5. WB bought $800k worth of tickets at last minute to get the right headline.
  6. LOL at the doom gloom. WB need to green light and fast track the Barbie 2 x Legally Blonde crossover set during Christmas that would pull off NWH sized numbers.
  7. That looks like it'll be pretty red and colorful under the right lighting. The snow gives it a christmasy feel.
  8. I rewatched DEEP IMPACT a few months ago and actually have a newfound appreciation for what it tries to do. Some of the scenes, ala the evacuation of DC, are pretty strong. Though was someone else noted, it's equally absurd to see people reading the newspaper and grocery shopping when the wave they all know is coming hits NYC 🤣. What ARMAGEDDON understood, unlike DI, was it needed action scenes throughout the film. ARMAGEDDON largely handles this by having an entire asteroid field headed towards Earth, not just 2 ala DI, so ARMAGEDDON can flip to NYC, Hong Kong, and Paris getting destroyed right when the film feels slow. The absurd space station explosion scene in ARMAGEDDON is hilarious stupid, though. I actually read the first draft of DEEP IMPACT aa few years back somewhere online and liked it more than the film. It was mostly similar but draft 1 was a but more morose, i.e. when they know the wave is coming, entire crowds flocked to the beach spend their final moments in their favorite place, vs. the film is just Tea Leoni and her dad, etc....1 more script tweak with DI, which expedited the evacuation stuff and had a few smaller comets hit Earth sooner to give some more action, would have made a big difference. ARMAGEDDON is an all-time epic crowd pleaser, though. Michael Bay does a shockingly great job with the emotional story beats that completely offset the absurdity of the story. The aforementioned PEARL HARBOR could have been a much better film with a few basic script tweaks.
  9. I like the logo, but don't like the release date as it stands. Jurassic World is way too close and still a lot of the buzz, especially overseas.
  10. Similar to Oppenheimer, everyone expected this to be good, but reviews at that level will likely push some people that were on the fence.
  11. This is going to have an epic trailer and I am suddenly fairly worried about Superman: Legacy.
  12. God Nolan deserves all of this and more for bringing Josh back into mainstream and making such an epic film. His next film should be another mega blockbuster.
  13. sorry but who the fuck cares ? the guy isn't in the movie, move on with life, he was beyond irresponsible for openly speculating it was political when he had zero indication of this. Maybe his audition sucked? The amount of well off middle aged "adults" in Hollywood who are mental midgets is pathetic.
