  1. The fall guy being a let down does not sit well with me because it’s an original. That being said, it seems like films that on paper should perform strong … do not. Even popular IP films are disappointing. The idea of a movie star being a bo draw is long dead to me. And then look at Civil War. Maybe now HW will learn to embrace more original ideas and fresh faces in front and behind the cameras. The audiences for one seem to be interested.
  2. Stop casting Pascal in everything. Fantastic actor, yes, but not for Reed. I love Kirby though. Still sad that Driver/Robbie/ Mescal were what we almost got but we did not.
  3. Trailer did nothing for me. Mostly because I found the action generic, the jokes didn’t land and, most importantly, I am a huge Logan fanboy and I thought it was the perfect ending for Jackman’s Wolverine so bringing him back here seems odd.
  4. Matthew Vaughn’s rep is gonna become the real agent Argylle
  5. No wonder Cavill dropped his management after this. Seriously, he signed in for a cameo in a movie that put him front and centre in the marketing and one that he could easily avoid. Now he gets another panned film to his credit that it will flop too. All things considered Howard is the lucky one here lol.
  6. Damn I love Ritchie movies and the trailer still exceeds my expectations. Cavill seems to have a lot of fun here. Cast is good. Can’t wait. That being said, editing any trailer to a Queen song is just cheating.
  7. So some reactions from critics have surfaced online and they seemed pretty positive. They do say that the twists are many and good and to fo as blind as possible but still don’t know if they are worth dooming the theatrical run of the film.
  8. Don’t count on Ministry to have a big push. It comes out early April and we don’t even have a trailer. Again a shame because the cast is talented. Stahelski sounds really excited about Highlander so he is definitely directing.
  9. I think Henry is good for action movie but that’s about it so, even if he was the age of Chalamett and Mescal, he wouldn’t go for the same roles. He even said it himself that he is fine doing only these action films. He was decent with drama (Tudors) but not enough to go for Oscar bait roles. He has Stahelsky’s Highlander though and the two Guy Ritchie films so it’s not like he is desperate for work. Personally, I am very excited for all these 3 films. I love both directors.
  10. Me over here thinking that nothing in Barbie warranted a box office nomination other than production design and maybe script. So I a love Margott so much but my biggest surprise is that this movie faired so good in awards season. Seriously, if you would tell me a year ago that it would get all this recognition I would laugh at you.
  11. This literally has one of the worst marketing campaigns ever and it will be a real shame if it turns out to be good and with the cast.
  12. The one thing that keeps me optimistic about this one is that many talented people are involved. I mean all these teams saw a shitty pitch and they said go forward with this ? Apple wanted it, then universal wanted it. whatever the case is thought, the marketing has been shitty at best. This is an original film. Playing coy about it won’t get you anywhere. Unless Taylor Swift is really in it and they expect it to blow up afterwards. But I doubt it…
  13. Do the twists in Argylle worth the little marketing ? I mean they only had one trailer that they have attached to everything and not much else.
  14. I nean surely Daniel Day Lewis decided to back off a bit from acting when he saw thespians like The Rock, Vin Diesel and Statham together in the indie drama known as Fast and Furious. Cavill has all it takes to be a big star and some of his upcoming projects are rather interesting. Stahelsky’s Highlander if done right can give him a great small franchise to lead while he pursues other roles as well. And he said it himself that he wants to be an Action star which he has already achieved. But to me this discussion is rather pointless honestly. In these days there are no stars like the old days unless your name is Tom Cruise or Dicaprio. These actors just play some roles and hope for the best. Even the stars that headline Marvel in its peak have not find much success outside the franchise.
  15. I disagree re Taylor’s dominance. In Europe she is not as big, imo, as Beyoncé, Adele and Coldplay. Maybe even the Weekend. Surely she can sell out stadium but I don’t think she is regarded as high as the rest.
  16. Looks good for a cinema evening and then forget about it. Hope it surprises me like the first Kingsman did all these years back. Still I think they are making a mistake giving top billing to Cavill and making him look like the protagonist. Aren’t people suing companies by law these days for false advertising? Final thought, Henry should have NOT agreed on that hair. It’s awful. I mean good for him because it shows he is willing to shed his perfect image but jeez…
  17. Given the synopsis and Vaughn’s interview, plus some comments about Cavill having a very limited screen time, they better not market this on his and Lipa’s shoulders. Giving him top billing is already a mistake imo.
  18. I guess every single big studio is calling Tay Tay right now. It’s crazy what is happening with her in the US. Like in Europe she is nowhere near Adele for example but Us makes up for it. Anyway, I think studios will absolutely search roles for her if this opens to something crazy like 150M plus. Maybe Tangled ? Have her star and write some original songs. There…
  19. Imagine if Eras Tour manages to overthrow Barbie. lol That would be one of the the craziest things to happen in the industry’s history. Maybe the craziest. I mean this thing will run for a month, right? Plenty of time for her fans to go and see it like a hindered time each…
  20. Baring a (personal) surprise by The Marvels and considering that Oppenheimer will get there (right?) This maybe another year (not counting 2020, which is still the case I think) where a Marvel film does not end up in the top 3 yearly. Hm.
  21. This is easily my favourite post-Covid film. It’s 3 hours of dialogue and my eyes were glued to the screen. Explosion scene, the ending, Kitty scene, Oppy’s Los Alamos speech…you know I could go on and on listing the scenes I loved.
  22. I am not actually sure what you guys are talking about precisely but I just want to tell that of all the Oscar snubs I always find myself baffled how Hans Zimme did not win for Interstellar.
