  1. I think somewhere along the way things got misunderstood. WBD want to make the DC films feel like cinematic events and not straight to screaming films. If they can get that with a limited budget then all the better. Joker was just that. A 55M film that felt and looked like an event film. Basically what they say, i think, is quality over quantity. So Joker 2 is of course a film that would immediately get the green light.
  2. It's really crazy how MacQuarrie was willing to write and direct this and thay just said naaaahhhh. Boy was WB's previous execs fucking stupid. Hope new one is better.
  3. I saw it yesterday and then went for some drinks so naturally I forgot to talk about it. Anyway I really liked this. Actually liked it more than Ragnarok, which I wasn't so high into as everyone else. Natalie Portman was fantastic and easily the stand out. Enjoyed the hell out of the Olympians...probably my favorite sequence along. Bale does a great job imo. The thing with the movie is that it feels kinda small compared to its potential. I get it's a small movie and Marvel probably wants to save the big all-out battles for their event film but the stakes would be much more appreciated here, if they actually existed to begin with.
  4. I mean Bradley Cooper is a producer in this and apparently he is bow good friends with Gaga so it's not that far fetched and, honestly, I think she will be great.
  5. So we have a finished script so Phillips and Silver worked on this for a long time...kinda makes you think, considering the title, if there was some credibility to the Lady Gaga rumors. There are some exciting possibilities with this one but I remain very cautious. I love the first movie so much that I am kinda afraid for this to ruin all the good will.
  6. I dislike this film as much as i appreciate it. I dislike it because I found it to be utterly boring throughout and I only found the charm of the HP franchise in like a scene (where Newt saves Theseus) . Plus, the characters were very one note other than Dumbledore. That much I appreciated it because it can serve as nice closure for the Beasts franchise, leave the unnecessary characters behind and focus on the first Wizarding war story. Like there is an exciting sequel that they can make out of this film. Make Dumbledore and Grindewald. Bring back only Newt and Tina because their story needs closure as well and maybe make McGonagall a pivotal character.
  7. I'll be laughing my ass off if a Barbie film gets nominated for a BP oscar. But with this cast and crew, if academy members are not snob enough towards this kind of IP, the potential is there.
  8. Have never realized that there are people out there that share the same opinion as myself that Ginny is...well, a shit character. Rowling should gahave gone for Harry/Hermione. Anyway, it's sad to see FB3 flop like this but I am a huuuuge Harry Potter fan and it's not like I am dying to see this. Could very well wait for it to release on HBO Max in like 40 days. This should have been a first Wizarding war movie from the get go with none of the other plots and imo WB wouldn't be in this predicament right now.
  9. Marauders and History of Hogwarts are to potentially big WW films just sitting there...honestly it baffles me how they come up with FB before any of these two stories.
  10. Anyone else feels like this should have actually been the first movie of the spin offs? Like Dumbledore/ Grindenwald should have always been the focus of it all. Don't get me wrong Newt is a charming character but should have been a supporting one. And others (*cough* Jacob *cough*) should not exist at all. I mean, while the first Wizarding war, is an exciting story to tell, using Newt and Fantastic Beasts as the starting point was a bad idea no matter if it has importance in the next installment . Could still be developed as a sub-pllt with just Newt and Tina, without taking from what the audiences actually care for. Plus, it would be more coherent.
  11. Haven't seen this but it makes me want to go outside and scream at everyone's face to watch it on theaters. We need original content.
  12. I find the release date of this movie very fitting! The whole time I was watching it felt like Sony was pooling a prank on me. A very bad one.
  13. Even with a 40M+ weekend for The Batman, 400M would not be locked as it will be available on HBO Max in less than a month.
  14. 400M final would be locked for The Batman had it not been for the HBO Max release at the end of April. Ugh I hate current WB heads.
  15. Basically 800M is also very much into play for worldwide final for The Batman. It will be reaaaaaally close to 600M (maybe over?) By next Sunday
  16. Last weekend I said something like a 63M second weekend for The Batman was possible and when I hit the submit button I was expecting that (rightfully) i would be be called out for my very optimistic prediction. The calling put didn't happen. What did happen was an even better weekend than I predicted. Fantastic and well deserved success for this movie...
  17. I have a feeling that China won't like the character driven slow-burner The Batman over an action-packed CGI fest
  18. I suspect that the way Batman's performance this weekend will basically be its performance for its entire run. Wouldn't be surprised with a second weekend in the 60-65M range. Could still see a 380M final but gonna say 350-380M for now.
