WF lost it's lynch pin lead actor and was more of a phenomenon type run domestically than CM. CM had a quite normal range of 2.7x multi for a first film. Let's say it opens to $120m (22% less) and does a 2.5x over the holidays - that's $300m. CM had a better Dom/OS split than WF so why would it be similar even losing China & Russia.

I saw it the w/e it came out - before the hype. Really liked the action and thought the framing of Alice In Wonderland pills was fun but actually LOL when it was reveal they were all batteries.

There is no way WB spent $150m on P&A for BB. They started advertising late and it was rather minimal. They didn't even have to fly the cast around. They'd also have to spend on marketing when released on POV and streaming. Rarely is $100-120m film just dropped. Now with the window so close after theatrical they won't have to spend much at all..

The Batmen helped but The Flash as a character is far more popular than the other two, the film was mounted on a far larger scale and the marketing was far more prevalent. Even then one could say it opened to about half what it should have and could have - same as the other 2.

IIRC August openers have the best avg legs aside from December - mostly because there's less competition by the end of Aug and into September.
