I'm seeing this for Elba and I might regret it.

Jen is talented and I usually enjoy Aronofsky's work. When I start seeing comments (not necessarily from here) saying it's obvious this is going to be Jen's best performance ever, the hype has gone overboard. It was just a teaser.

I think this will tap into the nostalgia factor for older viewers and then add young horror fans. It should appeal to a broad range of viewers.

It'll do better than 300m depending on reviews of coarse.

That didn't have Jlaw in it. It might get mixed reviews but the hype is already strong.

If this movie is average the critics will say it's brilliant. It's not like this movie needs any hype.

That release date is depressing. This sounds like a better Halloween movie.

Bummed. They had a chance to make this a comedy. I'm totally expecting the Princess Diaries makeover again. It sounds like Gina Rodriguez turned it down then they offered it to Anne.

What's clear is that the company is being poorly run. STX will try to minimize damage by putting blame elsewhere.

Hard to say how the BO will do. It's too early to determine how it's going to be marketed. Early reviews are mixed so that hurts any award hype it could realistically get (unless this year is very weak in the best movie category). Boyega has Star Wars but I'm not sure if American audience will put up with more British actors in American roles. Is his character British or American? The controversy didn't hurt Get Out but this movie may not be as good.

Agreed. Dunkirk didn't even come close to WW opening weekend and I highly doubt it'll have the repeat viewings that WW has.

I watched most of the trailers that got released and Stranger Things 2 wins best trailer. Thor is runner up.

Iron Giant for win!

Actually Besson neglected to mention that Lambert was deeply involved in getting financing for the movie before he died. Besson can claim Europacorp won't take a hit for this all he wants but time will tell if he is just bs'ing.

Think Apes is going to get my money this weekend. I don't mind the idea of a long movie, it's hot outside.

With a budget that high no one is going to take a financial hit? I'm not buying it. Someone is downplaying this.

I don't know anyone who even knows what a Valerian is here in the US. This movie isn't even on the radar.
