  1. Go read the 6th message on this page : http://ns4.xtinctdesigns.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=55322&sid=1840a3f6a90bb9fb0cd5eb5790a4bdd9&start=4975
  2. Doraemon will 'soon' (6-7 years) have more admissions than the entire population of Japan. Pretty crazy.
  3. Japan's next matches are, local time, on the 20th (friday) and the 25th (wednesday). I think next weekend it could stay flat if not increase a bit.
  4. Switzerland is democratic, or as reasonably close as you can get.
  5. No way. I would even be surprised if Avatar 2 did as well as Avatar in Japan. It likely won't have both the favorable exchange rate and the very high 3D share (3D has declined in Japan since then) that the first one had.
  6. Great numbers. Sure, it's a double digit decrease but it follows last weekend's increase.
  7. After an increase last weekend, anything below a 20% drop would still be fine provided that it doesn't continue to have such drops in the upcoming weekends.

  9. I understand the dollar total is important for Frozen to beat IM3 worldwide and become the #1 film of 2013 but really at the end of the day, it's the yen total that matters imo. And yes, changing the dollar total almost every week because of evolutions in the exchange rate is completely idiotic.
  10. Isn't tomorrow a Toho discount day ? In that case beating last wednesday shouldn't be a suprise.
  11. That's a bit disappointing : only an 11-12% increase compared to saturday.
  12. Yeah, I think it's a bit too early for that. The next weekend will be the ultimate decider : if it drops in the single digits again, or barely above 10%, then we'll be looking at really really big numbers, however if it has another drop above 20% or more than Corpse's scenario could well happen.
  13. 70k Toho would mean a saturday-sunday increase of almost 40%. That's a bit too ambitious.
  14. Toho : 50,503 It was 56,099 on saturday the 26th, 56,681 on saturday the 19th. So down around 11% from those two weekends and down 39% compared to last saturday.
  15. Spirited Away's 9th weekend was 650 million yen. That's probably the record.
  16. The japanese really never get tired of their own franchises : 18th movie for Conan, 17th movie for Pokemon, 35th (!!!) movie for Doraemon, and yet they keep pulling in the same numbers, sometimes even improving them. I can't imagine any other country where fatigue wouldn't have set in by now with such a fast pace in the releases.
  17. I don't think competition is the issue here, just the nature of the japanese boxoffice itself : may (except Golden Week) and June are almost always among the weakest months of the year. The question is whether Frozen will follow the trend of the other movies (-50%), have a limited drop like some movies do it (-30-35% like Thermae Romae in 2012) or have an incredibly limited drop (-15-20%). I think the second option is the most likely, but who knows ? And then, there's the strengh of the weekdays too...
