  1. The first Maze Runner is a classic. The second one...did nothing for me, bit of a let down. It was filler. Seeing Death Cure in about 2 hours, might as well see the conclusion. Long movie, has an Avengers runtime.
  2. Finally someone knocked Jumanji off, tired of hearing about that :). Bad news is, Maze Runner is a frontload style release. Looking at the upcoming releases, this stupid Jumanji movie could very well be BACK on top until Black Panther snuffs it out!
  3. Actually, the huge CGI monsters and nostalgia factor are the hooks too.
  4. Dunno who Hemsworth's agent is, but his steamy kiss scenes in the first two Thor films suggested a Romance route outside of the MCU. He works as Thor, but he hasn't caught on as a no-nonsense action leading man in his non-MCU roles. He has a female fan base, go the Romance way and see what happens.
  5. Thing that's gonna make this a tough sell is, Taraji is kinda aging...The role was better suited for a younger woman. Tessa Thompson, Alexandra Shipp.
  6. Jurassic World, and the Godzilla/Kong universe, have made monsters cool again. So while Pacific Rim's mediocre performance back in 2012 would suggest no sequel, the time may just be right. With, hopefully, a cheaper budget. I think it made 100M domestically in 2012? I still don't see a huge increase in that...130-140...but overseas has grown exponentially since 2012 . Boyega, could help. Didn't help much in the low budget films he's been in since TFA :)...but he's in a sci-fi setting here. 411 WW for the original? I could see 500-550 WW. It won't set the WW box office on fire, but it will make a decent profit in theaters, before heading to the home market.
  7. Damn it, Paramount has the movie rights to ROM Spaceknight, and they're going to jumble him in with the GI Joe and Micronauts shared universe. He needs the MCU branding to be a hit...He's kinda like Thor...outer space, science, powerful being. The fart joke crowd, that comes out in droves for Marvel's action-comedies, are not gonna get ROM at all 😂... The best thing about ROM's Marvel comic run was his encounters with their heroes and villains, like the X-Men and Galactus. Pairing ROM up with GI Joe...The GI Joe franchise (the "star" franchise of this shared universe)is looked at as a "C" franchise, as far as box office performance and potential. If they put out another mediocre dud, there goes the universe, and ROM with it. Whereas if ROM was in the MCU, it was guaranteed Doctor Strange numbers at least. But there are some things that could catch on, without Marvel. ROM is the leader of group of diverse spaceknights. Starshine, the female bot, there's one with hammer fists, another throws a javelin...if they could bring these characters to life, ROM could do well. Gonna be tough, I see it as another failed attempt to emulate Marvel.
  8. Sub Mariner, I forgot Sub Mariner. Marvel doesn't have solo rights to that.
  9. Marvel has everyone now. Hulk and Spidey are the only ones they can't do solo movies with, but they're on speaking terms with both studios.
  10. To be honest, Justice League had me scared to death 😂. First of all, if movie studio execs were gamblers, they'd all be sleeping on park benches 😂. Maybe the release dates of these movies are booked well in advance, and it's not that easy to move them to another weekend. Maybe that's what I'm missing here? But if that's not the case, and you can actually book your film easily to another weekend, you have to wonder what some of these guys are thinking! You can see a movie getting crushed by a competitor a mile away. They zero in on a release date, and it's written in stone...Jumaji is gonna get stomped by Star Wars second weekend! Star Wars will make more on it's second weekend, domestically, than most films will make in their ENTIRE run 😂😂! With the tens, hundreds of millions if dollars at stake, you would think these execs would be more aware of what other studios are doing on that weekend. But anyway, that's how I saw Ragnarok's placement, 2 weeks in front of JL. Another 😂...blind decision, that's gonna cost the movie tens, even hundreds of millions. Feige had given the glamorous May kickoff spot to Guardians 2, and he rewarded Sony for the Spidey lone, by giving them Thor's original July spot (we know know it would have done upwards of a billion there, with no JL and Star Wars). Thor 2 had outgrossed Winter Soldier in 72% of the territories. Winter Soldier was top heavy, doing well in the US, China, and UK. It was beaten by Thor 2, almost everywhere else. But the lukewarm response to Thor 2, made the character the last of the "big three", as far as how it was received by the MCU fan base. RDJ is RDJ, the Russos transformed Cap (and anybody in their films, including the defenseless Tony Stark 😂) into a kung fu master. So, the perception was, Thor was being sent to it's funeral, in the first official head to head showdown with DC, their movie happened to their first "Avengers" team up! Feige has already gave Thor a field goal kick to the back of the line. Once it gets smashed by DC, Feige will finished the job in IW, and that will be it for Thor, until the reboot. Well, I didn't see that coming 😂. 122M opening, JL opens in the mid-nineties, Thor finishes at 850, some 10-15 less than Guardians 2, JL does under 700M. Feige has a hair trigger when he sees a hit, and Thor is obviously back on his agenda. I still believe Thor was absolutely done if it didn't dominate the DC matchup, but fortunately that didn't happen.
  11. Possible frontrunner for villain of 2018 😂...the antagonist, probably some kind of nature nut, like John Goodman's character in Kong: Skull Island? Has a grand diabolical plan to return the dinosaurs back to their rightful place, as the dominant species the planet 😂. Might be better than Hoskins, from JW 😂
  12. SMH...go look at the shelves at Toys 'R' Us, as they gear up for Christmas shopping, and they tell the story 😂. Star Wars and Marvel have an entire wall of space for their merch. DC has a QUARTER of a wall 😂. The only ones close to Star Wars and Marvel is WWE and Power Rangers, with a half a wall each. They got a toy Mjolnir, almost sold out 😂.
  13. Wait...I dunno...Thor has opened in just about all the territories, yet it sits at 440 overseas. Even with China approaching 100M, and SK generating 30M. Its gonna need some serious legs to get 500M. I'm going to amend my final haul to the upper 700's...for now. Let's see how JL impacts it.
  14. It looks like Thor will make it to 300M, if these predictions are accurate. I figure it needed 300+ domestically, to go along with what looks like 500+ overseas. Should finish low to mid 800's. Thor joins Guardians, as the only MCU franchises to do north of 800M without Robert Downey Jr or Spider-Man. Cap got 714.
  15. It's not only that people will find something to complain about, its WHEN they do it 😂! It slways seems to happen when THOR comes around 😂! Thor 2 complaints centered on an underdeveloped villain and the comedy. Guardians comes out almost a year later, and is a comedy romp with an underdeveloped villain. It's treated like just a minor issue, when it was reason to bury Thor. Ant-Man comes out...an action comedy with a throwaway villain. It's beloved... Ragnarok opens, and now it's time to write editorials on Marvel's dependence on comedy 😂! The Thor franchise has always had a comedic undertone. They decided to turn the volume up. It WORKED...the audience, that loved Guardians and Ant-Man, but didn't GET Thor, are connecting! Reviewers are on board! The scientists and astrophysics from the first two...it just wasn't connecting, and considered "boring". I like NatGeo, Science Channel, Smithsonian, it wasn't boring to someone like me...but to the fart joke loving droves that go to Guardians movies, it wasn't going to...hold their attention. They found the formula that works for Thor, just roll with It! The Russos handle the serious stiffs, Thor is gonna be a romp!
  16. Okay Feige, you know what to do 😂! Get Hemsworth signed! Send the check to the CGI animators! His name is Ulik! He's the size of Hulk, he cannot be done by the costume and makeup ladies! Send them to the Russos, Cap needs some costumed extras to beat up! Bring the animators in! Tell the CGI guys He's got huge fists! They've got brass knuckles on them! He likes sci fi technology too! And don't forget the 800 ton dragon between Asgard and Midgard! Tell 'em he talks too! Alright let's go 😂😂!
  17. Well I did my part 😂. My third Thor 3 viewing today. Let's see what that actual is tomorrow. I'll see it one...or two 😂...times next weekend, then the long torturous wait for the 3D blu ray. I'm thinking...4 months...it should be coming out around Black Panther's release. Justice League and Panther should make the wait less painful. Yeah, I go to DC movies 😂. FOX, Sony. My only loyalty is Thor, my old comic hero. I'll see a Thor movie 4-5 times, while once or twice for the other guys. In fact, Marvel isn't my favorite movie studio, it's Legenday Pictures, who I truly wish had Thor. Marvel is a very frugal studio when it comes to huge CGI effects (not Avengers, the solos), while Legendary will put any monster and freak from Thor's comics on the screen.
  18. Do you understand the JUGGERNAUT the Hunger Games franchise was then?! It was the Marvel killer 😂! It denied IM3 and Guardians the highest domestic gross. It crushed Guardian's blu ray dominance. It's only when they tried to milk the final chapter into two movies, that it died off. Catching Fire gobbled up advance ticket sales that weould have went to Dark World. Thor 2 never had a chance.
