  2. Moderation @Migs20242 Moana 2 is doing fine. We don’t need this concern trolling for Wicked, and we don’t need it here. Continue this any further and you will leave me with no other choice but to give you a thread ban.
  3. Well Dog Man's based off a book series, so I don't think that counts. I think in terms of legit original, not based on anything, there's Pixar's Elio...and that's it. *insert nostalgic toy commercial rant here*
  4. I mean I'm fine with a few mainstays. I adore Hamilton and Taymor's Lion King, so having it always around any time I'm in New York gives me a good sense of comfort. Something I'm confident I'm going to love. I should probably get around to seeing Wicked on stage. The movie convinced me of its value, and I guess it'd be neat to figure out what the second act actually is and how they do the fancy special effects for the movie on the stage.
  5. Those Snow White films were moreso riding the Alice in Wonderland coattails than star power per se. That was during a bleak time when every public domain fairy tale got a big-budget adaptation because Hollywood thought that was where the money was. Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, Oz the Great and Powerful, Jack the Giant Slayer. IIRC, there was plans by Warner Bros. to make a Beauty and the Beast film with Emma Watson years before we actually got the Beauty and the Beast film with Emma Watson. But I guess it says something when Snow White and the Huntsman was far and away one of the more successful non-Disney versions of these fairy tale movies that the name holds a bit more value compared to Jack and the Beanstalk. Once Upon A Time was also a big deal around this time, and that had Snow White as one of the main characters. The actress who played Snow would later go on to voice Judy Hopps, so that's pretty cool I guess.
  6. https://deadline.com/2024/12/broadway-box-office-thanksgiving-wicked-1236192607/ Man, this movie really might help the show last forever.
  7. Not gonna speak for the kids today, but if you poll most Americans, from boomers to Gen Z, Wizard of Oz and Snow White are the two movies from the 1930s at least 75% of them have seen. They far outpace any other movie from that decade in terms of Letterboxd views, and Snow White in particular was the third-highest selling VHS in history. Sold fairly well on DVD and on Blu-Ray too. Plus, as a retail worker, while Snow White isn't as prominent as some of the more recent princesses, she's still got a solid presence in our Disney Princess toy section. Of course, that won't automatically translate to big box office. I honestly have zero clue where this will land once the dust settles. But it's disingenous to say people don't care about a 1930s property IMO
  8. Go to Bluesky bb We don't need that evil place anymore.
