  1. Oh, did I say the future for non-NTC animation is rough? Never mind. It's fucking bleak. If reviews as incredible as this still aren't enough for today's braindead audiences too piss-scared to see anything but nostalgia slop, then nothing is going to do well.
  2. I mean I think it’s still a great opening considering the circumstances and will be hella profitable for both Uni and Dreamworms. I just kind of wish we were back at a time when an animated non-sequel could comfortably hit around 50M like it was nothing. It’s great something like Elemental can find its audience and earn great legs. Great for theaters too, since the more a movie plays in a theater, the more revenue the theaters get. Still, I don’t know if animated non-sequels having to survive as long as there are no other animated movies on the market is super healthy long-term.
  3. You know 10 years ago, this would have opened to like 55 or 60M just off these stellar reviews and make like 250M or something. Now, Charlie’s data is saying it will barely get to 30M like Elemental. And like Elemental and Migration, Wild Robot will only get to 140M or whatever because it was lucky to have zero competition. Pixar’s Elio will probably have a similar 30/150 fate next summer. I guess it could be a lot worse, but the future for non-NTC animation is looking pretty darn rough my dudes.
  4. The ending has been leaked. Time for y'all to argue here.

  7. Well…yeah. It does. It’s like any other workplace. If you’re likable and great to work with, you’ll get more opportunities. If you’re a pain in the butt, nobody will want to hire you. Hollywood and entertainment is a bit more lenient if you have “star power”. But even then, if you have an attitude problem or are tough to work with, you’re gonna suffer once you get a few bombs under you. There’s a reason why Chevy Chase, Marlon Brando, Johnny Depp, Mike Myers, Tim Allen, etc. saw big career declines despite massive success prior, and never returned to their peak. Plus it’s not like any of the Hemsbombs failed because of Hemsworth specifically, nor does it mean he can’t turn things around with the right project. And he’ll get these chances since he has the right talent and work ethic and attitude.
