  1. boxoffice.com gave a $0.38M opening number, so that is incorrect?
  2. Any update for HR? Hope it can get more than $1M here.
  3. I mean some people especially youth will end their work/study earlier today.
  4. That's because the system has some technical problems that night (11 Feb.), so the estimates of that day is strongly underestimated. Maoyan doesn't have official real-time source, its numbers depend on their own mathematical model. They always adjust their numbers after official system reporting the numbers every day, so you can find that sometimes, the increases of Maoyan's numbers are obviously abnormal after 21:30. And even though it's not the official one, it still has change offer us some more accurate numbers occasionally. You can check the official box-office report here: http://111.205.151.7/movies/0 It publishes the numbers up to 21:30 every night and updates actual numbers next day. However, its real-time report doesn't open to the public by now, but "电影票房" has that authority to read it.
  5. Maoyan do not have official source. And since service charge was calculated, situation becomes more complicated.
  6. In fact, Douban is not a typical audience ranking system, many movie fans prefer to discuss or credit films here, I hope LLL can at least get 8.5 or more after releasing, but it's not that easy. And Maoyan is more close to the general public, an 8.8 on Maoyan is good but not excellent. BTW, for Maoyan scores, above 9.0, excellent, 8.5-8.9, good but nothing special, 8.0-8.4, okay but not good, 7.5-7.9, Poor, under 7.5, extremely awful. The highest score on Maoyan is Zootopia's 9.5 and the highest score for non-animated film is Hacksaw Ridge's 9.4.
  7. La La Land is a musical comedy which has always been extremely underrated in China. General Audiences do not like this kind of film not only because there is a gap between cultures also because they think singing over and over again in a film is really tedious and not funny. I personally love this film so much even through the performances of leading roles are comparably weak, it's actually one of my top10 films ever. However, you can check the views on either Douban or Maoyan, I have to say that the WOM of general audiences would be okay but far from excellent, in other words, it's hard for LLL to be the second Hacksaw Ridge here and 350M+ is really tough.
  8. Bom uses a different exchange rate perhaps. That $62.1M is up to Sunday but the last day of HR's run is Monday, let's see if it will update later. And I do not have an accurate Japanese release date so far.
  9. HR ends its run in China and earns 426.3M/$61.93M here. And it will release in South Korea on 22 Feb.
  10. Wow, but MbtS is an excellent movie, so so sad.
  11. I am sorry but I still have to say the qualities of those films are extremely horrible.
  12. We can not neglect that FF series is more popular, especially for general audiences.
  13. We all know that the WOM of TFA is not that good and I have to say Carrie Fisher isn't very popular here, I don't know how can EP8 get a positive bandwagon effect in China.
  14. Not surprised that Arrival has a bad WOM in China, the film doesn't have any furious battlefield scene, in other words, it is not a typical Sci-Fi film the general audiences expect for. As fast-food culture predominates the market here, most of audiences do not have enough patience to follow a slow intrinsic story without stimulating visual effects. But I personally dislike this movie too, because I had read the book before ... my ranking of some of the recent films are listed as follows, La La Land, 8.6/10 Hacksaw Ridge - 7.3/10 Arrival - 6.9/10 Passenger - 6.2/10 RO - 6.2/10 And I can guess that the ranking of Chinese general audiences might be Hacksaw Ridge > La La Land > Passenger > RO > Arrival. In general, most audiences here pay more attention to the following aspects, 1> complicate story, no matter the quality is good or not. So many Chinese audiences have a prejudice that a good story is always complicated or innovative, that's why audiences here overrated Interstellar but underestimated Gravity because by comparison, Gravity's story is too succinct. 2> startling or innovative visual effects, it's not difficult to understand, right? 3> emotional performance, for example, it's one of the reasons why Hacksaw Ridge got such an excellent WOM here, and showtimes a handsome/beautiful face is enough.
