Finally a good hold for GxK. It needs to continue having holds like that for a shot at 200m.
-
Man the Monsterverse is an extremely front loaded franchise. As long as LP and WB are ok with that it should move forward. It’s so odd though because the overall worldwide number seems fine but when you look at the holds it’s really confusing lol.

GxK going to be a drag to 200m it looks like. It’s having a good run, but was hoping it would pass G14 with ease after the opening it had.

GxK needs to get to 180m. After that let’s see how it legs out. Pretty bare box office so the drops could potentially stabilize enough to push it to 200m.

Put the * in the title yo

Interesting choice for a “musical”. The way they’re incooperating it as therapy for Joker is interesting. Might be the best year for WB in awhile.
This will be one we’ll have to watch in theaters.

Better for GxK

Those are some crazy drops for Monday. What would be the reason exactly? Easter Monday really that big of an impact?

GxK hitting 32m this weekend wasn’t fantastic, but a much better hold then the disastrous 2nd weekend some in the industry were projecting.
I think next weekend will be the telltale sign of it can chug to 200m. Will need like 17-19m I suspect.

Family of four(wife and 2 kids). Going to the theater is a special occasion for us. I’d say our average is like 4 trips a year. This year will be GxK(already watched), Mufasa and Sonic 3. That 4th film is up in the air still. Kids have expressed interest in KotPotA so that might be the one. Everything else we just catch on streaming eventually. Everything is just too expensive. We bought imax tickets for GxK and with some candy, drinks and 4 hot dogs it was(including tickets) $150.
Anyway, too early to call GxK not making 200m. It could have a decent hold next weekend like 40-45% coming off a “normal” weekend.

GxK will be pretty close to 350m worldwide with Sundays report. Where was Dune 2 at worldwide after weekend 2?

I don’t think we can assume anything with this weekend’s GxK number. With it being a holiday weekend, the numbers are skewed. I think next weekend will give us a more realistic idea how its holds are.

Wrestlemania weekend >>>> cinema
That’s actually a good point though. Wrestlemania seems much bigger this year than it has in awhile.

$11.9M / $82.5M
Will take it. Really just want it to get over 100m then see how far it can go from there.

How’s GxK doing Friday

Kinda ew. Well let’s hope GxK can hold strong
-
lol my son’s(10) most anticipated movies is Mufasa and Sonic 3.
-
GxK definitely playing towards families. Hopefully it can rebound a bit and get to the higher projection of like 35-40m this weekend.

GxK doing good in China and could total around 125-130 mill.
Thats pretty good
This movie is doing MUCH more than i expected a few weeks ago
Considering Hollywood films are really struggling over there, getting close to 130 would be really good.

6.8 GxK
That seems unusual for first discount day to be lower than first Monday? Or is the Monday being sorts of a holiday the reason?

I think most schools have some kind of extra off day surrounding Easter, but it varies based on the district. NYC for instance has an extended weekend separate from their spring break in late April, but other districts either take the week before or after Easter as their spring break.
Yeah it’s all over the place. My kids spring break was 2 weeks ago for whatever reason.

Between Toho and LP, let’s just go ahead and announce 3 projects within a 6 month span again. Monarch season 2, a Toho Godzilla film and the next MV film. Why not? All 3 were big successes.
Anyway, glad I watched it in imax opening night because I just found out Kong and Godzilla broke it Saturday.

JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Wow…. When my wife and I went to Japan last November we were shocked how affordable Japan was compared to the US. No wonder Japan is becoming a top tourist destination. Everyone’s money is going a lot further there.
