Btw what’s a normal drop the second weekend for an Easter movie like GxK? Will it be higher than usual next weekend?

Is it possible for it to hit 20m on Sunday or is that asking too much?
-
We might have overhyped it a little bit but hopefully can get to 70m opening weekend.

FRIDAY AFTERNOON: No monkey business here. Legendary and Warner Bros‘ $135M production Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is blowing away projections with a $31M Friday (including last night’s record Monsterverse $10M previews) and a 3-day of $67M at 3,861 venues. That’s the second-best stateside start ever for a Legendary Monsterverse film, ranking behind Godzilla’s $93.1M, and ahead of 2017’s Kong: Skull Island ($61M).
I think they mean 30m Friday without Thursday previews.- 1

My screening was packed, enjoyed it though. Got claps and cheers, lol. I hope it does well though. ❤️
We needa bring back FUN movies like this.
Yeah my showing had an audience very into the movie. Great movie experience! -
I feel like the audience score will be pretty good

Funny enough the two movies in the Monsterverse with the worse critic reviews, this and KotM, are my favorites in the MV. A good time. My kids loved it, and actually was quite a bit of kids at my showing.

8-9 is still pretty decent though. Hopefully it can pull in more!

$100M in China today is akin to making $1B worldwide. If I were Legendary I'd be grateful for that much out of an increasingly nationalistic market that has pretty much abandoned Hollywood.
I think a lot of people were wondering if LP being owned by Wanda would make a difference. Apparently not! 100m is t bad but yeah… decent decrease.
-
Darn… so not even the Monsterverse is immune to Hollywood drops in China. It’ll have to make up elsewhere which looks like it’ll be here in the states. I think between 500-550 worldwide is reasonable.
-
Won’t China alone have a pretty big launch? That seems kinda low by deadline.

That was a pretty great final trailer honestly. Poster looks fantastic.

I mean it’s going to be like 1b yen off Shin Godzilla. But with how well -1 did internationally, there’s no way they think -1 is not the bigger success.

¥6.83B / 4.49M admits in 143-Days!
Nice! Looks to hit that mark this week then.

What’s -1 at in yen? 7b reached?

Feel like Oscar win really bump Godzilla-1 late legs to an unexpected level. 7bn is no longer out of reach. Not really the same for how do you live?
Yeah this bump it’s getting is crazy. It pulled in roughly 665k on Wednesday it looks like. I’m assuming a holiday has started in Japan? If so 7b yen is definitely happening. Kinda crazy it’ll end up within 1b yen of Shin Godzilla when/if it hits 7b.
-
I definitely want another film in this series to hit 200m domestic. Hopefully this does! Especially after the crazy success of Minus One. I think this is more like a 150m film though… which if fine as long as the success in China continues.
-
Can -1 get to 7b yen? That would be insane if it did. Also, if it pulled that off then it would end up being just 1b off of Shin Godzilla which would be crazy.
Doing some pretty amazing things right now!
-
Speaking of Zilla. Any early whispers on how it might do here? I get China is cutting back a bit on Hollywood films, but Legendary films sorta are the exception.
-
I might have missed it, but did -1 get to 6 billion yen? If so, what is it total? Thanks!
-
Total for -1 in yen? Hoping it’s able to hit 40m in usd. Would be nice and clean
-
Man I’m a huge Godzilla fan but the difference between this and -1 is absolutely insane. Not necessarily in a bad way… but it just shows all the different kind of stories Godzilla x Kong can have.
-
Seriously just let -1 play out. It could definitely make another few million or more at this rate.

So -1 officially at 7b? The fact that it’s within 1b of Shin Godzilla is crazy.
