In The Heart Of The Sea | December 11, 2015 | New Trailer on Page 8
Cookson replied to Neo's topic in Box Office Discussion
The wife and I saw this opening night last Friday... It's actually a pretty decent movie. Sucks to see that it's struggling pretty bad here in the states. WB should have left this is March or made it a summer movie. Moving it a week before Star Wars was a pretty bad $$ mistake considering this cost what, 100m? So were talking AT LEAST 200m WW before profit. Maybe WB will get lucky and Home Video sales will be good. I give the film a B... great SFX, great sound... the story was good. -
This is kind of what the Kong: Skull Island movie is for. This is a BRAND NEW interpretation of Kong not related to anything prior before. I have a feeling the Kong species(small and big perhaps) lived during the same age Godzilla's and MUTOs were roaming the earth. Skull Island might be the last place on earth that resembles that era. MONARCH, corporation in G14 is also in this film. My guess is, we'll be getting seed plants in KONG: SKULL ISLAND on how the two can actually end up battling. My guess is, we'll be seeing Kong fight something much much larger(a kaiju) rather than dinosaurs in the film. The size complaints need to stop. People don't realize that Kong has been much bigger than the original 33 film 3 or 4 times I believe. He doesn't need to be that 320 ft tall that the new Godzilla was/is either. He'll probably be more like 200-250 ft tall and be more standing up(like the original or the 76 version) than the hunched 05 Kong. Also, GODZILLA vs KONG will end up being the biggest monster movie box office hit ever. Even if Skull Island and G2 underperform, GvsKong will do big numbers. Since Legendary is doing the Godzilla/Kong universe with WB, why not just go back to WB? It seemed they were on a much better streak with WB anyway.

Why would it be called Prometheus though? Prometheus was a ship that got destroyed. Are they really going back to the world Prometheus was on again? Eh..... -

JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

So, what can SHIN-GOJIRA make next summer? Toho hasn't announced a release date, but I'd imagine it would be in July like they did with GODZILLA in 2014. I'd love to think Toho's next entry can make 30m like the Hollywood 2014 version did, but is that unrealistic, or can that happen?- 23,611 replies

Saban's Power Rangers | March 24, 2017 | Teaser Trailer on Page 47

35m budget? Well, they probably don't have to worry about it not making money. I'll be taking my 5 year old for sure... hopefully there's something in this I can enjoy since I'm into all that Godzilla stuff. Really looking forward to what they come out with for the Godzilla/Kong Universe. Anyway, this should easily be a film parents take their young kids to see if they're into it. They might get lucky and get the nostalgia audience to go. 20OW 75DOM 150WW -

EPIC fan art of what could be! -
Maybe, but I guess this is what this film will show us since it leads to GvsKK. Or maybe Kong will already be huge and doesn't need a real explanation. In this world there was plenty of giant monsters in the age of dinosaurs... maybe there was a breed of SUPER SPECIES of giant apes. They used the term SUPER SPECIES in the Godzilla/Kong announcement.

So this starts or already started filming today. While the official trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out today and you can buy your tickets early for it, these Godzilla/King Kong/Giant Monster films have always been my "Star Wars" ever since I was a little kid... so it's great for me to see the Godzilla and King Kong movies continuing now and even more interesting to see how they do a Godzilla and Kong universe. This is what I'm excited for!!

It'll be 12 years when KONG: SKULL ISLAND comes out. It's a totally different story and direction... so it's not impossible. It's not like Peter Jackson's KING KONG did a killing at the box office. I think it's very possible a 200m gross can happen for Skull Island.
