I'm honestly shocked Keaton isn't moving the needle

I better not see any "no marketing" complaints like we usually do when a movie underperforms or flops. WB hasn't marketed a DC movie this hard since BvS and Suicide Squad

I mean the first one wasn't some beloved hit anyway so I guess it shouldn't be surprising that the sequel isn't doing so hot
-
If this was Nolan post TDK I would understand not interfering with his stuff but it's not. Reeves Batman flick was nothing special quality or box office wise
Aquaman made like 400m more than The Batman and yet it's the one getting shelved. Make it make sense

What exactly constituted giving this movie a $200m budget in the first place?

Maybe now Hollywood will learn how to budget properly instead of relying on China to save their asses
$200m for Black Adam was ridiculous

Boggles the mind how these "stars" continue to get 10m a movie despite not being able to sell shit to flies

DC needs to rebuild brand equity. Pathetic given the ENORMOUS floor it clearly began with highlighted by the massive openings for Man of Steel, BvS and Suicide Squad. Had those films been higher quality, there is no telling how high it could have gone. Now they are in full blown "build goodwill!" mode.
But isn't that what Shazam, TSS, Joker, Peacemaker and every other post JL project (except for WW84) did? Or did they not move the needle?
-
Or maybe it was nostalgia for the Robin Williams movie and the concept of the movie itself that audiences found endearing and not any of the actors

If it manages to stay in the 50's I'd consider that a W

What I don't understand is why the director of Jungle Cruise was chosen for this
Because someone with more cache would push against Rock's ideas

Call me nuts, but I think this is the anti-WW84. WW84 has 71% from Top Critics, but it was brought down by non-Top Critics.
It's hard to tell, but the Top Critics seems to be at about 30%. This is reflected in the metacritic score. On last count, these are about 40% of the reviews on RT. This means non-Top Critics are at about 63% at the moment.
Could end up 55-60%, which is fine for it.
Hoping a movie that you haven't seen bombs to send a message about the quality of that film to a man who isn't responsible for making it is a very interesting approach / a slight overreaction given that the difference between a "fresh" and this RT Score at 50 reviews is 5 reviews.
WW84 was treated with kid gloves because of the pandemic. If it came out today, the top critics percentage would be similar to BA

Sounds like Flash will be recasted, not for this movie obviously but the future.
Deadline already told us this months ago

Zachary Levi is a bigger draw than The Rock and Margot Robbie

I gotta commend The Rock for trying his hardest with the marketing of this movie
After that first boring trailer (imo), every subsequent ad has been action packed and filled with one liners to hook in casuals. If it doesn't work out... Blue Beetle and the like are DOA

After the stunt WB pulled with WW84, early reactions for DC movies means nothing

Well damn then! What the hell is going on?
Looks like the first tone was indeed lightning in a bottle
It had a lot going for it:
First MCU hero that was not white
Infinity War hype
No terrible Disney+ shows that oversaturated the brand
Civil War appearance

Even if all they showed was that boring first trailer, this was opening above Morbius just on Rock's star power alone

Joker's reign at the top is gonna be short like leprechauns

Saying no one cares in the US is... um... Not Accurate, even for hyperbole:

(it's the opening of the NFL season tonight)
Saying "not enough people care to really effect the box office"? Yeah, I'd agree with that. But not a news story in the US? Disagree completely. Very much is a story over here, even if you don't count the sizable chunk of the US population which is obsessed with the royal family.
The average NFL fan is in their mid 50's. Are they really googling stuff like that though?

The dilmena is that Flash movie literally does something that NEEDS to happen in order for the DCEU to move on forward the way Zaslav and WB wants to, the movie needs to be released just for that purpose.
Do they? 2 of the projects tied to this movie have been scrapped or won't be moving forward (Batgirl, Supergirl)
The Flash is the previous regimes's baby. It's completely irrelevant now that Zaslav has charted a new course for the franchise

Lol as if being marketed as a direct sequel would change anything
The first one had all kinds of circumstances working in it's favor. Lightning in a bottle type shit
