I can think of a lot of reasons - Rock and Kevin Hart on screen together again - Star Wars alternative - A simple story - Comedic and family friendly - Good reviews and word of mouth - The main characters’ chemistry - The action - No major competition in January - Low expectations - Nostalgia - Marketing after release
-
Where is your proof of this and IF true why don’t China like him?
-
Honestly this trailer looks really cool especially the action at the end. Of course some people don’t like it because they’re comparing it to the (arguably) high regarded original. It reminds me of the reactions when the first Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle trailer came out. IMO, Pacific Rim: Uprising looks to be the one in March that I think the general audience will embrace more in the US and overseas if the reviews are decent than any other release including Ready Player One, A Wrinkle In Time, and Tomb Raider.

This looks really good. I have a feeling this going to do big numbers in domestic and overseas. -
Oh definitely. If this does at least $100M domestically and extremely well overseas especially in China, Lucasfilm will have to, for sure, treat his character with more respect. I hope Boyega pressures them as well. Most people are expecting PRU to bomb in the US, but I really think it has a chance to breakout if other alternatives aren’t appealing to the general audience (AWiT, RedS, TombR, RPOne).

Hey Olive. What are you gauging from the Chinese audience for Black Panther right now? Excitement, indifference, no interest? And the same for Bajrangi Bhaijaan? -

Does anyone know if there’s a site or page where I can find all charts from last to now in one place? -
Why are likes/dislike ratio so low? Did they advertise this on many YouTube channels or something? That part at the end with girl in the tunnel the. the masked killer pop in was freakishly scary to me. I really liked this trailer and I loved the first movie.

If the ceiling for you is $150M opening weekend, that is still ridiculously great for a first film that’s not starring Iron Man. A year ago we wouldn’t have even fathom from a Black Panther film.
