    Honestly they could release this tomorrow and it would barely manage half of what the first did. It was really poorly received at least among everyone I know and spoke to about it. I think so. In the third one she gets shot. I'd pay plenty to see that.

    Adam Sandler is the perfect comparison actually. A talented actor who has managed to fill his filmography with utter shit and now has little respect from me.

    I haven't seen him in anything other than Gone Girl, he was nothing special but not terrible either.

    I didn't have a problem with Laketown politics stuff. I'm glad that Desolation of Smaug had some actual worldbuilding.

    Yep, one of my favourite films from 2014. It's full to the brim of ideas and most of them are executed properly. Pfister is da boss.

    Depp annoys me and if he's in a movie, I will generally try to avoid it, but sometimes that's a bad idea - I didn't watch Transcendence since his face was on the poster, but actually he is like the 3rd most important supporting character, and the film is superb. Depp has had his time, now someone make him walk the plank and stick to Pirates of the Caribbean for the rest of his life, where I can happily swim away and never see him again.

    Ridley Scott is an overrated director, from what I've seen of his.

    Well one of them is so in a fight I know who would win. Seriously though: Quicksilver is a really excellent visual sequence in X-Men, but it's just that. As above - in Avengers, he is a character. So probs gonna have to vote for avengers.

    They did excellently. 250-300M three times, despite very poor reception, is pretty outstanding. LotR is inherently more epic and is regarded as a literary classic, so naturally it was going to do less. It then got hurt by bad press regarding all sorts of things. They made tons of money and I don't think anyone at Warners will be losing sleep over it.

    I think it's a good thing to cast for "political" reasons. It doesn't change the film itself in any way, but still improves the effect it has on the audience. Better representation from different groups is a great thing.

    Jackson has three films this century better than anything Nolan's done.
