  1. These are poor predictions, they just give a figure then a plot synopsis. No explanation for how they reached that figure. I wonder why they think Minions is going to gross so low.
  2. Jason Isaacs please Somehow his Oscars left my brain this morning when I wrote that! Ignore that one then, I meant it for writing rather than directing anyway.
  3. Ooh, this seems like a fun game to play, how many Iron Man characters can I name. Tony Stark Pepper Potts JARVIS Whiplash (dunno actual name) Justin Hammer Killian Natasha Romanov Happy Mandarin (dunno actual name) Iron Patriot (dunno actual name) That's it, all I've got.
  4. I take it we're talking people who haven't previously won an Oscar? Christopher Nolan Oscar Isaac David Fincher Alicia Vikander Scarlett Johansson Bradley Cooper Wes Anderson Jake Gyllenhaal Tom Hardy Jessica Chastain Andy Serkis (might take a while but he'll get there) Richard Linklater Quentin Tarantino Ikea Knightley
  5. Yeah, it's an enjoyable way to pass time, compiling this. Writing out all the posts was interesting too, it had me look into some films that I didn't know much about before. I think I'm going to do a couple more of these kinda things, I have one other idea atm.
  6. Sent mine. I feel like it's awfully generic - I had 9 John Williams scores, 3 from Howard Shore, 2 from Vangelis... no points for anyone who can guess which ones I rushed the list but I'd rather have these get more points
  7. Arguing which LOTR is better is kinda pointless. Not because 'they're all one movie' (they're not) but because it's been done to death and no one is ever gonna change their mind. Everyone has their personal preference and the three are so close in quality that it doesnt really matter.
  8. Virtually guaranteed to set the film partly in China now. I would be shocked if it wasn't.
  9. Only film I really wish had made the list is Bernie.
  10. Sounds more interesting than doing psychology revision so I'll get a list to you in a few hours.
  11. Thank you so much to everyone who submitted a list and followed the countdown. I enjoyed doing this a lot and will likely create similar threads in the future. I know there were some disappointments on the list, e.g. the vast number of 2014 movies, but at the end of the day, this forum has a lot of different people, and not everyone is gonna be happy with every result. I'm personally very glad to see so many quality non-blockbusters at the top, I didn't expect that. Early on it looked like Gravity, Inception and TDK were gonna win, and I'd be a bit disappointed. But alas, I am pleased. No Avengers and no Hunger Games makes me happy. FULL LIST 1-100: And the next 150 that missed the list:
  12. #1 100% Director: Peter Jackson Written by: Philippa Boyens, Fran Walsh & Peter Jackson The mesmerising, beautiful conclusion to a truly epic cinematic achievement. Brimming with Jackson's burning passion for the source masterpiece is the greatest film of the 21st Century. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King bows to no one.
  13. You should have! Wouldn't have changed #1 though you could have been able to move Sunshine down to #3. Here we go then. Unfortunately there are no dwarf tossing gifs to put in the next post.
  14. I can't believe I still haven't seen Eternal Sunshine
  15. #2 93.62% Director: Michael Gondry Written by: Charlie Kaufman Jim Carrey was once an A-lister, but this is his only film on our list. It's a cult film, it's a film hard not to love - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind wanders into our list right by the top. It's the 2nd best film since 2000 - not bad... RT Consensus: "Propelled by Charlie Kaufman's smart, imaginative script and Michael Gondry's equally daring directional touch, Eternal Sunshine is a twisty yet heartfelt look at relationships and heartache."
  16. I can reveal now that #1 is The Fault In Our Stars.
  17. Ugh I love Woody Harrelson so much. He should be in every film, in fact that should be a law. 2010 was quite a poor year imo, I don't have many favourite films from the year.
  18. #3 92.45% Director: Joel & Ethan Coen Written by: Joel & Ethan Coen And into the top 3 we go. The Coen brothers have had a big hand in our list, and here they provide us with what is arguably their best film. No Country for Old Men is, rather deservedly, the third best film of the century so far. RT Consensus: "Bolstered by powerful lead performances from Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Tommy Lee Jones, No Country for Old Men finds the Coen brothers spinning cinematic gold out of Cormac McCarthy's grim, darkly funny novel."
  19. #4 89.82% Director: Peter Jackson Written by: Philippa Boyens, Fran Walsh & Peter Jackson The film that started the iconic film trilogy, an important milestone in fantasy cinema. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring ventures into the deep, dark woods of our list and finds itself being the 4th best film of the century. RT Consensus: "Full of eye-popping special effects, and featuring a pitch-perfect cast, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring brings J.R.R. Tolkien's classic to vivid life."
  20. Sorry I was writing a blog, forgot about this lmao. Its only like 7pm, 8pm in the US right? I'll have this done by the time you go to bed
  21. #5 86.41% Director: David Fincher Written by: Aaron Sorkin Our final film from David Fincher is his terrific performance-powered legal drama-thriller. The Social Network hacks into our list to find itself ranking as the 5th best film since 2000. RT Consensus: "Impeccably scripted, beautifully directed, and filled with fine performances, The Social Network is a riveting, ambitious example of modern filmmaking at its finest.
