  1. Slumdog Millionaire is crap. One of the most overrated films in a long time imo.
  2. Toy Story 2, Shrek and Shrek 2 are absolutely magnificent and I would definitely put them up for consideration as best film of their respective years. But at the end of the day, the Academy is just a bunch of old, straight, cis, white men. Do you really care about their opinions that much?
  3. Noah was good. There's not a lot to complain about really, unless you are a Christian who gets offended by a realistic depiction of Noah.
  4. If American Sniper beats Passion, 50SoG will still beat Passion's February record.
  5. That would be really nice. I'm sick of January/February being full of shit movies. There's nothing inherently bad about January - people do not steer clear of the cinema in the winter. If appealing films release in January, they will make money. It's currently just a circular argument from studios - they don't release major films in January, January therefore has low BO, therefore they don't release major films in January, etc. The same thing went for August last year. The reason August doesn't make money is because no one releases films there - Guardians of the Galaxy proved that August didn't have to be a dead month. No month has to be dead.
  6. Yeah, if this won (very unlikely) and someone were to argue that it doesn't count, then they would have to admit that Mockingjay doesn't win either.
  7. Okay, just done a bit of searching about it and I can see why the Thursday numbers are kept out.
  8. Huh? What does Walmart have to do with this? March does have a tentpole, Cinderella, but obviously it's not going to top The Hunger Games.
  9. The MCU will eventually die, most likely long before their current plans finish (2029, was it?). Given how frequent these universes are becoming, it will no doubt be surpassed by something else one day - but that might not be for 20 years or so.
  10. June's record is actually 128.7M, the OW for Man of Steel doesn't include the Thursday night previews which are included now.
  11. I don't think 100M 4-day will happen, though I won't discount the possibility.
  12. As impressive as that might sound... Avatar had been out for 1 month.
  13. I'm in the UK, and the showing at my cinema tonight was completely sold out. That's exceptional for my cinema, though I don't know if the same thing happened everywhere else.
  14. You don't think Age of Ultron will have a bigger OW than A1?
  15. There's an untitled DC movie in July 2018, if that's BvS 2 or Justice League or whatever its called, then it's possible it could break the record.
  16. It's not that they've forgotten that it exists, it's the idea that they forgot just how good it was.
