  1. How do the posters not make thematic sense? They literally depict classic military imagery on modern cities.
  2. Anyone claiming this film is not political is lying through their teeth or hasn't actually watched the movie.
  3. Ahhhh I thought this was great. Super strong imagery. The horrors of war hit a lot harder when it's in a place you recognise and your own people. I thought the anti-war messaging was very effective. It was tense and a few moments where I was completely shocked. Kirsten Dunst was terrific and the rest of the cast was good.
  4. Season 1 was solid, but there was quite a striking difference between the two timelines. One timeline was fun and engaging and had great characters, and the other timeline was pretty boring. It did get better towards the end of the show.
  5. Even with all the marketing it’s getting, I don’t see this breaking out to be a hit. It’s an erotic tennis movie. I’d be quite surprised if it out grosses CMBYN which awards buzz.
  6. Huh that's interesting. The trailer is out? And its been out for 24 hours? I am a social media addict and I haven't seen anyone share a single Joker related picture/meme/trailer.
  7. I was looking forward to seeing this earlier this evening. And then I got given my apprenticeship results this afternoon and decided to celebrate at the pub instead 😁 Guess I’m even more hyped to see it next week!!
  8. How To Ruin A Franchise 101 What an absolute shower of shit. They forego the human story for once, and instead it's 2 hours of the worst monster fights in the series. The CGI is shockingly poor. It looks like a kids videogame or cartoon. None of the monsters feel real, none of the fights have any tension or impact. Nothing has any weight, whether its monsters or buildings. I recently rewatched the first 4 and Godzilla 2014 and Skull Island are really so good. They are so much more interesting and engaging and fun than this snoozefest. Its really disappointing the films have turned to shit. GvK was tolerable but this just straight up sucked. I don't understand what they are doing with this franchise when we just had the Monarch tv show which was way more in line with the first two movies (and was actually good). I probably would have liked it if I was 8.
  9. Who cares, it's great that A24 is committing to a big release of their biggest budget film! Anyway my IMAX showing of Civil War tomorrow is half full currently. If you think its doing sub $15M OW i think you are underestimating it by quite a bit imo.
  10. I was just checking the times for GxK tonight, I wanted to see it in IMAX as currently my IMAX is same price as normal tickets. But they are have replaced GxK with Dune 2 instead lmao. And then from tomorrow onwards its Civil War with all the imax showings.
  11. Anyone know when the review embargo lifts? Its out this week in the UK and no reviews and I have seen no marketing. Guessing the studio has no expectations for it.
  12. Wow this was.... out there. Sydney Sweeney in this movie and those last 5 minutes are going to be ICONIC.
  13. Haven’t been on here this weekend. How is audience reaction to GxK? also is the CGI as terrible in the movie as it is in the trailer?
  14. I watched The Guest a couple of weeks ago and thought it was awesome. Can't believe I wasn't aware of it before. Dan Stevens was amazing.
  15. Can you link some examples of the reviews that even vaguely suggest they were expecting the godfather?
  16. I wish Dreamworks could leave their franchises to die in peace. If you can't do the franchise justice then just don't do it. Please. This felt a lot like Shrek 4, as it sucked all the charm and wonder and personality out from the originals. Out of context, on it's own it's an OK film, though mostly carried by the voice actors. Just depressing when it's such a step down from the previous films. And the animation is really crappy. Loads of backgrounds and textures that have no detail. I get that they had to reduce the budget from the 150M of the previous film but still, it looks crap. Looks like a TV cartoon. If they butcher the next HTTYD then I will actually burn down dreamworks animation offices.
  17. That's good to know. I was sad when I read that Garland is retiring from directing. Maybe it was just a clickbait article I read anyway.
  18. Hasn’t Alex Garland said this is his last film? That he doesn’t enjoy directing and just wants to be a writer again.
  19. Wow this trailer is way too spoilery. I recommend watching this knowing as little as possible.
  20. Superb. Really really enjoyed it. It felt like a fresh take on the genre. Even though it's only 1h20, it takes its time to get you settled in, enjoy the show, laugh, while in the back of your mind it's building tension towards a horrifying climax. It also puts you on the same level as the characters, being ambiguous as to what's real, playing with your perception of reality. It feels really authentic as a period piece as well. It's completely believable as a 1970s late night show in the production/aesthetic and also with how jolly and slightly creepy the host is. David Dastmachian(?) is fantastic. The character is complex and juggles a few opposing traits, and feels like a genuine person. Also I absolutely love the poster. Gonna get one of these for my bedroom wall. I can see this becoming a cult classic. This is the horror film to beat in 2024!
  21. Here in the UK, Ghostbusters seems to have no IMAX screens, even though it was marketed as having IMAX. Dune still has all the IMAX this weekend. Is this the case in America or is Ghostbusters stealing all Dune's IMAX screens?
  22. I’m not proclaiming love for it. I just thought it was decent, and I didn’t like the original. i only watched the original films as an adult in the 2010s so I have no nostalgia for it.
