Spring is in full swing and the box office is suffering. Godzilla x Kong was the number one movie with 47.079 admissions, and now Civil War won the weekend with only 38.838 admissions (43.065 including previews). Next weekend should be stronger. The weather got significantly worse today and is not going to change until the end of this week. And there are also multiple new releases on Friday. -

As always, the Easter weekend was very weak but it was still the best Easter weekend of all time with over 150k admissions overall, despite the beautiful weather across Poland on Saturday and Sunday. Usually, it's under 100k for all movies. Warner Bros. was brave enough to release Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire on Thursday, though. The movie opened with 47.079 admissions (Fri-Sun) and 78.648 including Thursday and previews on Wednesday. The 3-day result is probably the fourth best for any film on an Easter weekend and best for a movie premiering on an Easter weekend: 1. The Passion of Christ (2004) - 59.378 admissions (sixth weekend) 2. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022) - 53.917 admissions (second weekend) 3. Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (2006) - 53.063 admissions (third weekend) In comparison to the previous "Monsterverse" movies: Godzilla (2014) - 80.619 admissions (85.616 including previews) Kong: Skull Island (2017) - 114.636 admissions (116.945 including previews) Godzilla II: King of the Monsters (2019) - 51.752 admissions (53.233 including previews) Godzilla Vs. Kong (2021): 28.671 admissions (33.282 including previews), this was only a few weeks after the second COVID lockdown ended -

$5,6M after WE 2 for Dune: Part Two, so likely over 900k admissions 11 days in. At this pace, 1M should be surpassed on Tuesday. -

Thursday 60k Friday 105k Saturday 148k est. OW (Fri-Sun): 355-365k est. 4-day opening: 415-425k Let's see how strong Sunday's going to be. It's sunny and warm today all over Poland which might have an impact on the box office, especially the walk-in business. However, a lot of tickets have been already sold for today. -

Not sure about Euros. The first one had almost 235k admissions on OW, so if the second one hits 350k, it will be an increase of around 50%. -

This would mean around 60k on Thursday. It was the opening day, however, there weren't as many screenings as usual for a big release like this, so this is more like extensive previews. The number of screenings increased significantly on Friday. -

It shows the percentage of sold tickets against all available seats on IMAX screens on March 2nd and 3rd. It's divided by city and type of screening (left are screenings with subtitles, right are dubbed screenings). I don't have any other data to compare this with, so it doesn't help much. If you asked me, I would right now predict an opening weekend of around 300k, but that's only my gut feeling. The first one had 234k during OW. -

Last weekend, The Boy and the Heron opened with 25,924 admissions. With previews, it stood at 49,790 admissions after the opening weekend. By now, it has probably surpassed the lifetime total of Spirited Away (55,364 admissions).
