  1. Within the series, Leonard and Penny are the ones that are somehow grounded. After the unaired pilot the producers probably realized they need a second character (Penny) to create more mainstream appeal because Leonard alone was just a litte bit too neurotic to provide that.
  2. "I'm done," the 26-year-old tells The Hollywood Reporter. "There's no room for being a visionary in the studio system. It literally cannot exist. You give Terrence Malick a movie like 'Transformers,' and he's f---ed. There's no way for him to exist in that world." Wow, this young guy is really bananas and gaga without end. A male Lindsay Lohan or something like that.
  3. Pennys only superiority are their social skills. Besides that she know's she is a loser. She will never make it as an actress and so on.A guy like Sheldon could make millions someday with a crazy invention. Since it's a Sitcom nobody will ever reach it's goal however. They are all losers.
  4. What Spielberg movie from this early time in his career do you like best?
  5. You are a much bigger BBT fan than me it seems. If it's true what you wrote: "Most of the time she lets those 4 feel how superior she is" this would be something that clearly sucked during the first episodes of course.Since BBT has endless re-runs on German TV and so on it's hard for me to remember the first episodes.
  6. Thanks for all those links. I'm a big fan but this stuff I completeley missed...The unaired pilot was never aired because it sucked, as even Lorre admitted. It just looks too "nerdy" and therefore they had to introduce a new character, Penny, to allow the mainstream audience to identify. And, hey, those characters are not REALLY aware of their problems. Otherwise they would solve them. They all are happy to live the life they have in the end because there are more pros than contras.
  7. Wow, I would like to watch this first pilot. Sounds very interesting. Where did you find it?(And now I must go to bed because I just returned from my birthday party.)
  8. Try Hitchcock's Notebooks by Dan Auiler. There's nothing better if you want to look into a great directors brain.
  9. You STILL can get a new used copy for 15 bucks or so. ;)http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1557046778/louhandmanson-20/
  10. Did you ever read Gottliebs "Making of" book? It get's even more interesting if you consider the fact Gottlieb was a great TV sitcom writer.
  11. A dumber Penny would not work. Penny represents the audience within the ensemble. We must be able to identify with her. Her basic function within the Sitcom is to serve as a "mirror° -- and only that makes it possible to enjoy the crazyness of those nerds.Penny in Big Bang Theory = Monica in Friends = Carrie in King of Queens and so on.
  12. Yes, watching 2001 on big screen must be a similar great experience like Lawrence of Arabia I guess.
  13. Fox wasn't "perfect" with Avatar and therefore only financed part of it.
  14. Once, but I won't miss the free TV premiere in two years or so course.
