  1. It's Eli Roth... pretty sure we know why this is being embargoed.
  2. The Space Between Us got pushed to Feb 2017... I think studios are afraid of getting sucked into a black hole that weekend.
  3. Everyone saying this will leg out a good multi are kidding themselves... Potter fans desperate for more HP universe content are going to inflate this OW. I'd be stunned if it doesn't fade hard afterwards. That previews number is nothing short of a disaster.
  4. That's more due to how insane Tuesdays are now than anything else.
  5. 18 freaking theaters for Arrival as Jack Reacher drops almost 1,500? I hate you Paramount...
  6. Holy hell that's what I'm talking about Arrival! Paramount needs to expand the fucking theaters next weekend, 2,300 is a joke. They even gave Ben-Hur 3,000... it's no wonder they're circling the toilet bowl...
  7. 10pm previews for Gone Girl vs. 7pm for Girl on the Train... not to mention the difference in reviews/buzz.
  8. Am I the only one wondering how on earth Snowden is being reported $3M under late estimates? Has to be a goof.
  9. I don't think it's horror fatigue so much as it is bad horror fatigue. Think about the big horror hits so far: The Conjuring 2, Lights Out, Don't Breathe... they're all certified fresh and well regarded. Micro budget horror has made it so there's an absolute ton of horror on the calendar. Audiences can be selective. Blair Witch is performing like an average horror movie because... it's an average horror movie. If you've already gotten your horror fix from Don't Breathe, you could easily choose to skip over a rehash like Blair Witch with mediocre reviews and wait for the next option. Ouija 2 stands a chance because it could be good due to Flanagan but Rings is going to get buried... because it looks like garbage. Thankfully horror fans don't have to pay for garbage these days.
  10. It's been Blair Witch the whole time, they just called it The Woods so they could do a surprise reveal at Comic Con and create buzz. Between that, the 100% RT score to start (lol) and the other marketing they tried, they tried to go viral and build hype. Problem is, if the greatest magic trick in the world has a turd as the reveal, it's still not going to do well. Next time just make a good movie dammit.
  11. Not a particularly exciting number but movies like this are so hard to peg off a Thursday. Older women demos are usually fine waiting for the weekend vs. packing in on a Thursday.
  12. It only has 5 reviews on RT right now, but 3 are from top critics... and it's at 100% with a 10/10 Average Rating. Holy crap.
  13. Well yeah... I'm more surprised when a movie opened LD weekend breaks $10M than when they fall short. One of the worst weekends of the year.
