  1. worldwide or domestic? I would think BB will beat Meg 2's total and Meg 2 wont hit The Flash's numbers. If you are talking about worldwide - you forgot Meg 2 had Wujing hence the China gross..
  2. I would argue that Blue Bettle (this iteration) which was only created in 2006 is less well-known than Shazam aka Captain Marvel; who inspired the legends such as Elvis.. Plus Shazam 2 is a sequel. I mean BB's box office isn't good but it had no hype and ppl were expecting 15m... Not saying the number is good, but it isn't literal garbage at least. Hope it has better legs than Meg 2..
  3. 满大人.. Kinda speechless. I like Andy Lau but Tony Leung is box office poison.
  4. Reddit or my comment in the BB thread? Lol.. It just a line... Nth serious. More curious about Aquaman 2 to be honest.
  5. Not bad. From a 15m OW expectation to OD of 10m Mid 20s weekend coming. Not sure whether impact of storm this weekend will allow better OW multiple going forward.
  6. Watched it here in Singapore last night, a refreshing superhero origin story which has a lot of heart + humour. My theater ate it up. Hope it has good legs. One line was unneccessary though, WB should remove it and get it shown in China...
  7. It was Zack Snyder; she appeared in ZSJL. Similarly Zack Snyder casted Donnie Yen as Vulko for ZSJL but he turned down the role and it went to William Dafoe who also played the role in Aquaman.
  8. No doubt it will be a great movie, but no hype at all here in Singapore and wider Southeast Asia..
  9. Maybe some GA may not know the name Nolan, even some of my friends - but once I say - the director of Inception, Dark Knight Trilogy, Interstellar... Basically it is hard for someone to not have heard of his works and his prowess as a director.
  10. Yeah I mean in 2008, The Dark Knight was the highest grossing film in almost every territory worldwide. While in Singapore and Malaysia - i think it was Kungfu Panda. 😅 Just glad the film (which I felt was incredible) is being appreciated in many other places!
  11. Want to avoid derrailing the thread, so apologies that I started this in the UK thread. To note the scores in Singapore, HK and Taiwan movies sites are strong too; but a lot of these people knows how to appreciate a deliberately paced character study film. My observations of G.A. came from the premiere I attended on Wednesday - some people were using phone and walked out; and murmurs of how "boring" it was when the movie ended.. as well as the multiple Movie groups in Asia I am in (across Taiwan, HK, Sg, Msia) and from speaking to friends.. For avoidance of doubt, I loved it and hope it has good legs - and I genuinely hope my observations are wrong...
  12. Tricky thing is that.. general audience (at least here in Asia) seems to have mixed feelings after watching Oppenheimer; some call it the best Nolan film, some said they walked out of the theater midway.
  13. Edit: Not going into spoiler territory. But basically - impossible to cut; huge part of the plot.
  14. Am very surprised; just came out of the Singapore premiere and.. really surprised that this can be allowed to show in China. The R-Rated scenes aside, the whole movie was talking about something else which I thought would be quite sensitive to China.
  15. For one it is closer to his later works than his (mid)earlier works - thought that was clear in my original post. It also tucks less on emotions but focuses more on scale In any case, the scenes which warranted the R-Rating were not necessary IMO.
  16. Not meaningless though; as there were people who understood my reference. My perspective on those movies is subjective; yet there are people with similar sentiments who understood what I meant. Your analogy is too extreme. There are obviously similarities between the films I mentioned as reference. Go watch the film this weekend then come back, and say how you feel. I attended the premiere, enjoyed it - post here to share thoughts with likeminded people; if you are not one of them - that is fine but be less rude yeah.
  17. Just came out of the Singapore premiere. It is more Dunkirk than Instellar More Tenet than Inception
  18. Not sure how MI:DR got such a high critics score on RT? It is nowhere near the level of John Wick 4 or Top Gun,: Maverick. Yeah, before anyone replies and ask whether I know how RT aggregate score works.
