The last I remember where a big Budget film released in China earlier than the rest of the world was Kung Fu Panda 3; release in Jan in China and March everywhere else... Pretty much got wrecked worldwide ,despite it being a solid sequel.

Not sure whether this is a good move from WB... Aquaman pirated video will be out on Dec 7... once it releases in China. May not impact US box office, but will definitely damage box office in Latin America and Asia where Piracy is rampant.

Warner Bros will definitely release aquaman in China, too big a market to ignore. Infact, they wanted to cast Donnie Yen in Aquaman to be one of the key roles, but he turned the role down, but that clearly shows how keen WB is in making the DC brand strong in China. The release date will probably in Early Jan (similar to the star wars release dates in China) Right now i am surprised why Sony is not pushing for Venom to be release in mid/late Oct in China. No big China release... empty month for Venom to literally earn big bucks.

Golden Job this week and L Storm last week literally has 0 competition.. Predator should have released now! + Monday is a holiday. Or they should have let Ant Man or Mission Impossible have a bigger buffer in terms of release dates - now September is pathetic and people are literally having nothing to watch and just goes to the cinema to watch whichever movie. The small budgeted "Cry me a sad river" has great WoM but not enough screentimes.

Pretty sure many of them knows. This unofficial blackout period is known to many and the period ended with HT3 on Aug 17. Just like The Great Wall, it is in English but gets a December release date and GA knows it’s a co production. Key here is that in the past 2-3months, the supply of Hollywood Movies is very rare, and this may be a factor for the stronger pre-sales and front-loadedness.
