Star Wars is now at €14.9M with 1.9M tickets sold; Bridge of Spies reached €3.2M yesterday.
  2. Never heard of it. It's the opposite here. I've never gone to the cinema on Christmas Day, but I know a lot of people that go on that day, even if they don't usually go during the year. It's like "It's Christmas Day, what can we do this afternoon/evening? Let's go to the cinema" I've also seen some old cinema being temporarily restored just for the christmas days (richest period of the year) and then closed again.
  3. Really? It's almost the richest day of the year, here. Every cinema is open on christmas day. The richest day is today.
  4. Christmas Day TOP 10 Tot adm. 732.000 € 1.115.421 - STAR WARS € 1.107.101 - VACANZE AI CARAIBI € 985.771 - NATALE COL BOSS € 591.025 - BRIDGE OF SPIES € 368.074 - IL PROFESSOR CENERENTOLO € 275.601 - ALVIN SUPERSTAR € 269.028 - IRRATIONAL MAN € 210.536 - THE BENEFACTOR € 139.851 - MASHA I MEDVED € 48.533 - BELLE ET SEBASTIEN
  5. It's christmas, and The Hobbit 1-2-3 increased in the Christmas Week: TH1 http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/italy/?yr=2012&wk=52&p=.htm TH2 http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/italy/?yr=2013&wk=52&p=.htm TH3 http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/italy/?yr=2014&wk=52&p=.htm So maybe yes.
  6. The interesting thing is the average ticket prize, which is getting lower in these days, but it's still high: €7.87 Anyway, after a good Tuesday, SW7 is now at €10.239.512 with 1.300.378 tickets sold.
  7. Best OWs FRI-SUN €16.400.000 - SOLE A CATINELLE (2013) (€18.600.000 - 4 days long weekend) * €12.000.000 - CHE BELLA GIORNATA (2011) (€18.650.000 - 6 days long weekend) ** €10.140.420 - BENVENUTI AL NORD (2012) (€12.000.000 - 5 days long weekend) *** € 9.940.514 - AVATAR (2010) € 8.400.000 - ALICE IN WONDERLAND (2010) (€10.500.000 - 5 days long weekend) *** € 8.164.000 - THE DA VINCI CODE (2006) * Opened on Thursday ** Opened on Tuesday *** Opened on Wednesday You have to consider the fact that films open on Thursday here since 2012. The Best OD record belongs to DH2, with €3.2M on a Wednesday. It's going to be smashed in less than two weeks, when Quo Vado? opens in 1500 screens. I expect at least €4.5M. The Best Single Day belongs to Sole a Catinelle, with €5.6M on a Friday.
  8. Good start here http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/italy-box-office-star-wars-849765
  9. And that's not complete! I guess cinetel will update before the evening. Anyway amazing average ticket price: €8.27.
  10. Some updates about SW in some of the big cities: The biggest multiplex in Rome (Parco de Medici) is projecting the movie 22 times today starting from 2pm. It's almost full in every show. Again in Rome, Cinema Barberini is projecting the film in english, and every show it's almost full for today. This is a 8pm show in one of the most important multiplex in Milan, Cinema Arcadia: http://i63.tinypic.com/b4vmhc.jpg That's the 11pm show: http://i66.tinypic.com/1z2f1pf.jpg The Space Maxicinema (one of the biggest in Europe), which is in Naples, is projecting the film 10 times starting by now, and there are a few of empty seats.
  11. Oh if you were talking about OW, then yes. Today is the day, that's the saga in Italy: Star Wars - 9.8M admissions Empire Strikes Back - 4.7M adm Return of the Jedi - 3.08M adm Phantom Menace - 2.4M adm Attack of the Clones - 1.5M adm Revenge of the Sith - 1.48M adm It literally collapsed, so this one it's an unknown. No way is going to surpass italian best OW (€18M / $25M).
  12. Star Wars is opening tomorrow in more than 850 screens. This week something like 10 or 12 films are opening here, but Christmas can't save everyone. That's the "Christmas holidays effect" here, in the last years. 2008 (and starting 2009) 2009 2010 (and starting 2011) 2011 (and starting 2012) 2012 2013 2014 (and starting 2015)
  13. Tuesday (Holiday) 1. IL PROFESSOR CENERENTOLO €0.7M 2. CHIAMATEMI FRANCESCO €0.5M 3. THE HEART OF THE SEA €0.5M 4. THE GOOD DINOSAUR €0.4M 5. BELLE & SEBASTIEN €0.4M The italian comedy Quo Vado? is going to open on January the 1st (1500 screens) and Pietro Valsecchi (the producer) said he is sure the film will earn at least €50M.
  14. Preholiday Monday: 1. IL PROFESSOR CENERENTOLO €533K (78k adm) (Opened yesterday) 2. IN THE HEART OF THE SEA €450K (63k adm) 3. CHIAMATEMI FRANCESCO €336K (54k adm) 4. THE GOOD DINOSAUR €330K (51k adm) 5. HUNGER GAMES 4 €140K (19k adm) SPECTRE is still making money (€12.3M) after a month, and it could match Skyfall (€12.8M) with a bit of lucky. Hunger Games is at €7.6M.
  15. According to Disney Italy marketing director, Star Wars 7 sold 350.000+ tickets by now. Previous record was registered with 50 Shades of Grey (180.000 before coming out).
  16. I think it's like the fifth time that I say that... Someone change the thread title! It's old. Anyway, it appears "Chiamatemi Francesco" (€15M budget) is a huge flop, in two days it earned only €260k. I think it's going to have a decent boost on Tuesday and during the christmas holiday. South America can save it. Other updates: Heart of the sea could win this weekend, now it's at €300k The good dinosaur is at €2.55M Hunger Games 4 is at €7.1M Spectre is at €12M
  17. Weekends can save it. In italy these kind of movies show their potential in the weekend.
  18. Updates Local movie "Chiamatemi Francesco" is set to open in 700+ theaters next week and it's already been sold in 40+ countries, according to the producers. Spectre is now at €11.3M (1.6M adm) HG4 is now at €5.1M (739k adm) Inside Out is now at €25.2M (4.0M adm)
