  1. Don't even try to start this lie asshole, I been falsely accused before and I'm not in the mood. There is something seriously wrong with people on this board. Too many crybabies that get people banned because of a simple disagreement.
  2. I think it's safe to say Steven Soderbergh's marketing plan is a total failure. He proved that big distribution companies are right and his beliefs about distribution is wrong. He couldn't sell a movie with a great cast and a 92% tomato rating. He brags about the movie already makes profit, but it's a lot less than he was expecting. LL only opened at $7.6m in 3000 theaters, A good distribution company could have easily opened LL at $15m-$20m and Soderbergh would be getting the same amount or even more money than he's getting now.
  3. In the near future theaters will only be showing big blockbusters and oscar bait films. Everything else will go to Netflix and Amazon. Then the rural areas will be reached more easily.
  4. When the ancillary markets starts in a few months, Soderbergh will be very happy with the South, Midwest and the NASCAR Nation.
  5. I'm glad to see LL is making profit, despite it's poor box office number. I'm sad to see HB is not making profit yet, despite it's good box office numbers. This shows that the distribution companies holds all the power and leverage over producers. Hopefully more production companies will start doing self distribution.
  6. I think SS already has gotten that message when he looks at the box office.
  7. I think THB is not as strong as it seems to be. It just no competition right now. If The Nice Guys would've open last week, it would have been doing much better than THB. THB is benefiting from weak competition and Logan Lucky poor marketing strategy.
  8. What makes this upsetting is a traditional distributor would have easily opened it at $15-$20 million.
  9. Well, if you target the promotion towards low density locations you're going to get low density box office results. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out.
  10. Like I said before my unjustified week ban, Ryan Reynolds needs to stop signing up for these mediocre movies.
  11. Aug 11-13 1. Annabelle 30m 2.NJ2 17m Aug 18-20 Hitman's Bodyguard 39m Logan Lucky 20m Annabelle. 16m Aug 25- 27 HB 16m LL. 12m
  12. Apparently, the marketing in North America is focused in fly over states, not in the big cities. It's being promoted on country music stations and rural America. Here in Los Angeles there are no billboards, no bus ads and no local tv ads. I go to a lot of movies 2 or 3 a week and I never seen a LL trailers at the theater. But l have seen a stand up poster. I don't think they are looking for the GA, they sold oversees distribution rights that paid for the movie budget and Amazon cover the marketing budget for exclusive first right to the VOD streaming. Steven Soderburgh is a genius, LL is going into the theater with little or no negative cost.
  13. I hope so, unfortunately oscar voters can't remember too much before October.
