  1. I’m sure while they are counting all the money this movie is making and prepping the sequel, they will give a sh*t that you think it deserves an asterisk.
  2. I liked how it was done. It shows the movie was factual, as opposed to just "loosely based". Watch the feature length documentary on the guy called "The Contientious Objector". It was made several years ago, and having seen it I can tell you that it looks like everything in the movie seems to be true. In fact, I'd say it's the first movie I've seen where I thought they held back on heroics. I'll agree that the actual footage adds a lot of emotion. But I don't agree with the manipulation part. Great movie though!!!!
  3. Hacksaw looking good at +50%! Saw it again last night. Anyone who hasn't seen this movie... you are missing out. I hope they don't start yanking it from theaters. If it sticks around through Christmas, it should get a ton of Oscar nominations.
  4. I could care less about DS. What I'm excited about is the Hacksaw Ridge hold. That seems to be a pretty good drop.
  5. Saw it last night. Amazing movie. 20 years ago, this movie would hover around the $15mm mark for several weeks and easily crack the $100mm mark. But movies don't really work that way anymore and it will start to lose theaters after next week and probably finish around $60-70mm. I hope I'm wrong and it catches on. I'm really interested in seeing yesterday's actuals. I saw it at 6:45 last night and it was packed. Very unusual for the theater I go to.
  6. Halloween, Salems Lot (1979) and The Thing are the movies that scared me the most as a kid. Halloween is my favorite because of its simplicity. Before all the brother/sister crap and even worse, the Thorn garbage... Halloween was about a killer who escaped and came home. He picks Laurie Strode because she just happened to be the first person he saw (through the door of his house). Fate... Pure and simple. There is NO other reason that he follows her. It started so many trends, they are too numerous to list. But what a classic. Favorite scenes for me? -hedge -out the school window -standing amongst the hanging laundry -background doorway -the slow reveal behind Laurie -sitting up. -breaking into the closet. Terrifying. Least favorite scene: no reason to take his mask off. Man... What a great movie. And with almost no blood!!!
  7. I think people are missing the boat on this one by a long shot. Only "high teens" opening? No way. This is movie is still 8 weeks away, and reviews are already coming in and are off the charts. I'm predicting $40mm plus opening and over $200mm.
  8. I'd agree with everything you say except Rocky Balboa loses a half point for me. Wanna know why? Because of that 30 second scene in the bar where that girl comes over and tries to get him to buy her a beer. "Know wha' I sayin' foo? You ain't no betta then me!" Ugggg. It hurts just to type it. She is so unbearable that it takes a full 2 minutes for me to get over how awful she is. Then they show her a couple more times. Bad idea. Other then that... It's great.
  9. Had American Sniper been a 2015 movie, it would be my BEST of the year. So to each his/her own I guess.
  10. I couldn't agree with your comment more. I loved Creed. But I cannot say it's better then 2, 3, 4 or 6. I can say that for me it was nowhere near the original. But it's not fair to compare. Rocky 1 is to me a perfect movie. I also wasn't pulling for Adonis quite like I was pulling for Rocky in the original. Adonis at least had money and security. If boxing doesn't work out, he has something else to fall back on, though certainly not his preference. If Rocky isn't on his feet at the end of the 15th round in Rocky... He's still basically a bum. But again, I thought Creed was fantastic.
