X-Men Apocalypse dropped only 17%, for its second weekend.
That's insanely amazing! Not surprised due the good word of mouth here. My friends, parents, bosses all loved it.
Then its second weekend will be like... 1,075,000 admissions! impressive WOM!

RED SPARROW has a set release date, Nov 10, 2017. Unconfirmed whether Jen and Francis are still attached pic.twitter.com/ySt8pKNt8I

I'd prefer it if Aronofsky were doing it with Jen, tbh. And isn't Marita supposed to come out in 2017 as well? If this does, I kind of doubt that will happen since Jen will have her current Aronofsky project and then this one in 2017.
There's not a release date for Marita yet.

this Monday (sept 14) morning tidbit thatJennifer Lawrence may be “orbiting” (original verb used in relation to this story) a role in Red Sparrow. The Fox movie is an adaptation of Jason Matthews’ spy novel, and will be directed by Francis Lawrence, who also directed The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2. According to Deadline, the role is being specifically developed for Jennifer Lawrence, although it was originally offered toRooney Mara, back when David Fincher (of course) was interested in it (Darren Aronofsky also was interested in the movie for awhile). In another JLaw connection, Justin Haythe is being brought in to rewrite a script by American Hustle’s Eric Warren.

Fox reports this morning that X-Men: Apocalypse scored an estimated opening day of $26.4 million on Friday, including Thursday night’s $8.2 million start. As expected, the sequel proved noticeably more front-loaded to its early shows as the film came in 26 percent below the $35.5 million opening day of Days of Future Past on the same Memorial Weekend two years ago (despite Apocalypse opening at $8.2 million versus DOFP‘s $8.1 million on Thursday). The cause of this is undoubtedly mixed reviews (currently 48 percent on Rotten Tomatoes) and comparatively lukewarm word of mouth (74 percent on Flixster versus DOFP’s 95 percent one day after release). All told, Apocalypse looks to unfortunately fall short of pre-release industry and studio expectations as it heads toward a $61 million three-day weekend and $74 million for the Memorial four-day frame.
