Hahahahaha...told you all that this movie won't beat FF7 either in India or China.

Maze Runner is my favourite YA adaptation because I'm super biased and I love the book, and the film symbolizes more than a movie for me, looking forward to it is how I made a lot of my friends.
But as an un biased opinion:
THG1 > Maze Runner > Divergent Series
Boxoffice wise, yes.
Quality wise, TMR>THG1>Divergent

Will this be another Lucy or a new Fifth Element...
Does it matter?
Lucy- boxoffice win
Fifth element - criticaland boxoffice win

Agreed. It did infinitely more entertaining stuff on a much less budget. Not at all, actually. And its 100x better than THG.
Hunger game movies are overrated.

That is one of the biggest Saturday jumps for an opener I have seen in a while. Haven't seen it yet, but WOM seems to be pretty great. But it will have to face Bombay Velvet in its second week, so it will be hit hard.
BV has flop written all over it. It might open well, but die quickly after a good opening day.

Still a massive drop from the first. Marvel and Disney will be slightly disappointed with its domestic performance. GOTG2 is going to be in similar situation in 2017. It will be their next IM2 boxoffice wise domestically. The gap between IM3 and AoU's dailies has shrunk to 6-7% only as of Saturday (34.2 vs 32.05). The total lead so far has become 27m.
IM3 made a further 144.8m after this point. If AoU stays ahead of it by 6-7% for the rest of its run, it will take an extra lead of 9-10m. Thus with a total lead of 36m, it will finish with 445m.
So it will need better holds than IM3 to hit 450m.
Civil War has potential to do 300+ million domestically, but has to be really good. 400 will not happen. Even 350 will be very tough.

With very good WOM, Sunday should be atleast 10cr, with wknd being around 25cr.
Shoojit Sarcar is a damn good filmmaker.
Vicky Donor
Madras Cafe
Piku
That is a really good resume. He even turned a non actor John Abraham into a solid lead in MC.
Is it just me or nowadays Bollywood is making really good indie or small budget films. 90% of the big mega budget ones are absolute shit.
The only recent big budget film I liked was Baby.

This was an amazing IMAX 3D experience. First time I watched a full length movie in this format.

The only country missing is China. The official site says it releases on August 7th, but I guess that is tentative date. It will all depend on if any of the Chinese distributors are interested in releasing it.

Oh BTW....Karma!

Marvel and disney will be a bit nervous about this opening weekend. I think it's obvious that Furious 7 kinda hurt Avengers 2 as it was a must see event movie and first out of the gate.
They will be a bit concerned next year..with BVS coming before Civil War and then in Fast 8 coming before Guardians 2 in 2017.
Calling it now that Guardians 2 will perform like Iron Man 2 domestically.
-
Wow....I expected Avengers2 to gross at least 200 million on opening weekend. Disappointing opening weekend, but should have seen this coming. The avengers was a genuine event movie and it was basically the star wars of comic book movies. It was inevitable for the sequel to drop at the boxoffice both opening weekend and domestic...remember Spiderman 2!
I don't know why but I have a feeling that this year will be not that good for comic book movies either critically or commercially.
Movies geared towards chicks and original content will deliver at the boxoffice.

This was far better than I expected that's all I'm gonna say about this
I'm not talking about it or anything
The surprise boxoffice smash of this summer.
-
Yeah, you won't be able to talk about it.
Oh by the way, Tarzan 2016?
It's ok. Not great, not bad, just ok. I'm not talking about it.
What did you think of Prince of Persia movie? Is it on that level or worse or better?

where is the trailer for this? I thought Fox would have wanted it with Avengers or Mad Max.
Ideally, should be out the week of May 10th (attached to Mad Max {wb} ) , but I think Fox will wait till the week of May 17th (attached to Poltergeist {fox} ). The same trailer will be attached to maybe San Andreas (wb) and definitely Spy (fox)

The reason this was moved to January is because I had heard somewhere that Saban wants this to be as faithful to the source material as possible..I.e. same costumes and all with a slight modern edge. He believes a faithful power rangers movie done on a 70-75 million budget can be a huge boxoffice hit.

Fantastic Four will release on August 7th in China WITHOUT 3D. Can firedeep or someone predict the boxoffice range of FF and where it will most likely land. Thanks

Tanu weds Manu Returns looks the most promising of all the ones you mentioned. Kangana is an amazing actress. She can do all kinds of roles.Next 5 weeks look pretty good in terms of potential
- Gabbar is back should get the OD and OW record for 2015
- Piku and Kuch Kuch Locha Hai will cater separately to Multiplexes and single screens
- Bombay Velvet can be big and get the 2015 OW record
- Welcome to Karachi looks like a mass entertainer
- Tanu Weds Manu Returns is a movie I am really looking forward to (loved the first part)
Then a 2-3 week break before "Dil Dhadakne Do"
-
Looks like it.
Still confused over 3D - no official word from FOX on this?
Also same for IMAX - no mention of the film in their slate on their site or on the conference call today[/quote
It's not releasing in 3D or Imax. I think fox decided to cancel 3d releases for most of their films this year looking at how Kingsman did without 3d. Plus it costs 15-20 million for a good post conversion.
Only Poltergeist, Peanuts and The Martian will be released in 3D.

The opening narration made it look like it was a new Batman film or Kingsman sequel. LOL
This has to be the weakest trailer attached to Avengers2.

HahahaI read the title as "Brock Lesnar" and thought "So he has been filming movies during his time away from the WWE"
Breck has made two solid movies SAHARA and The Crazies. So I am kinda looking forward to this. But that guy should be doing something bigger..give him an existing property to sink his teeth into.

Man...September18-Dec 30th has way too many awesome movies of various genres sports/drama/scifi/action/creature/fx heavy movies.
Maze runner2
Everest
Victor Frankenstein
Goosebumps
Pan
London has fallen
Last witch hunter
Crimson peak
Creed
Spectre
Martian
Star wars
....
Frankly that lineup looks much exciting than entire summer 2015.

I thought TMNT was good fun. Had zero expectations going in.
WWZ is the best example of a movie that was somehow saved by reshoots and editing. It looked like it was going to be a disaster both commercially and critically. Atleast that's what the online movie sites and bloggers made it sound like. Loved the movie.

Sorry but you're wrong. This could have easily beat F7 in India had it not been for such a low number of screens compared to that. Everybody around here was much much more excited for TA2 than F7.
Didn't you and the other people complain when the subtitles were gone?
I was glad the subtitles were gone in the second half because pre interval there was something wrong with only half of subtitle showing which was distracting.

No, you didn't. Everyone here was expecting this to beat FF7 overseas and worldwide after seeing FF7's performance. But I called it out last month when FF7 released in China and India that A2 ain't beating FF7 in either China or India.
FF7 > A2 both quality and commercially
