  1. Don't think it will lose many screens in the next days and kids are fully on holidays, so 600M lc ($33.5M) is a good ceiling. However the ultra-cheap tickets may kick soon, affecting total gross.
  2. And an update on the Yearly Top 10. 3. Weekend actuals. Bad drop for Spidey (500M lc is in danger), good hold by Gru and Co. Decent Sunday previews for Transformers 5, but none of the other new entries cracked the $1M OW.
  4. DM3 passed Finding Dory in lc and should leap over Inside Out and Monsters University by the weekend to become the #5 highest animated movie. SMH still on track to 500M lc but it'll be closer than anticipated.
  5. Forbes: Box Office: 'Wonder Woman' Soars Past $750 Million Worldwide.
  6. Mojo now has charts all the way back to 2001!!! There's a gap between 2004 and 2005. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/intl/mexico/ Some interesting totals in USD: Spider-Man $31,196,574 (#1 movie in 2002, looks like it broke records at the time) Ice Age $20,585,860 Finding Nemo $17,841,841 (#1 movie in 2003) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets $16,954,909 And talk about consistency: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring $15,553,497 The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers $15,998,901 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King $15,626,424 Thanks to @Mockingjay Raphael for the tip!
  7. Here's the link for the all time charts since 2004: http://forums.boxofficetheory.com/topic/20842-top-10-grossing-films-per-country-excluding-uscanada/?do=findComment&comment=2332378 And 4-day OW over 200M lc:
  8. CANACINE corrected their Thu numbers Homecoming is the highest opening for a Spiderman movie, also achieved the 4th highest OW (3-day and 4-day) of the year. Also #5 highest superhero 4-day OW! DM3 flies to the Top 30 all-time in lc, breaking the 9-million admission barrier in just 2 weeks. The rest of the movies got annihilated, Peter and Gru held a 92% weekend share between them!
  9. Top 5 WW films of the first half of 2017 (OK, technically up to 09/07/2017), as per Mojo. Was this what you expected? Me, I am somehow surprised about #4 and #5: 1. Beauty and the Beast $1,260,876,432 2. Fate of the Furious $1,238,704,665 3. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 $857,745,049 4. Wonder Woman $745,786,191 5. Pirates of the Caribbean 5 $734,025,297
  10. Must have had a very strong Sunday to make $12M. Other totals: WW $22.3M, Cars 3 $14.9M (biggest intl market so far).
  11. Screendaily: China debuted at number one on $66m (RmB 453m) and has set the record for the biggest opening weekend for an animation feature ande biggest animated IMAX opening weekend ever in China on $4m. France on $9.1m for first place while Germany produced $8.5m, Illumination’s second best opening weekend behind Minions in those market. Belgium, Switzerland and Austria each delivered number one debuts on $1.4m, $1.1m and $973,000, respectively. Meanwhile, Iceland and Trinidad generated number one hauls on $112,000 and $94,000 respectively. Despicable Me 3 held at number one in Portugal on $1.5m, the UK held at number two on $7.1m for $25.7m, while Mexico added $6.1m for $24.5m.Thanks to school holidays, Australia held at number two in week four on $3.5m for $18.4m, up 33% over last weekend. When compared to animated films in the same span of time and same markets at today’s exchange rates, Despicable Me 3 is ahead of Minions, The Secret Life Of Pets, Finding Dory, Despicable Me 2, Zootopia, Frozen, Ice Age 4, and Toy Story 3.
  12. From Mojo: Internationally, Spider-Man debuted in approximately 60% of the overseas marketplace, delivering an estimated $140 million from 56 total markets and a global opening totaling $257 million. Highlights include a $25.8 million five-day opening in South Korea, a $12 million opening in Mexico, an $11.8 million five-day take in the UK, $9.1 million in Brazil, $7.8m in Russia, Australia saw a $7.6 million opening, India saw a $6.5 million debut and Italy delivered $3.1 million. Upcoming markets include openings in France, Germany, Spain, Japan and China.
  13. Mojo is reporting a $12 million opening for SpiderMan. Screendaily reports a $6.1m weekend for DM3, $24.5m total. That's not a bad hold at all! Mummy also up $12.9m.
  14. Worldwide, PIRATES: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES is at $734M. — Exhibitor Relations (@ERCboxoffice) 9 July 2017
  15. Something doesn't add up here. Either CANACINE is right with their Thu 23M lc figure = 200M lc 4-day OW; or Deadline/Comscore calculated the Thu OD differently. That, or the movie was very front-loaded, or DM3 were more resilient than we thought. Only hours to find out!
  16. Update on Mexico: the CANACINE number was way off. Spidey opened to $2.4M Thu (@Carlangonz reports 44M lc as per her source). So the full 4-day OW will be much higher than $11M. Those Korean numbers are insane!
  17. Brilliant, so 250-300M lc ($14-16M) could happen!!!! CANACINE is all over the place as of lately
  18. Screendaily: The animation stands at more than $306.8m worldwide when the China number is added to the $286.8m worldwide haul through Thursday night, of which $191.6m now comes from international and the $115.2m balance from North America. The performance of Despicable Me 3 means Illumination films have generated more than $5bn worldwide.
  19. I was expecting higher than $1.5M. There's a chance it's not being frontloaded and Fri-Sun will surprise.
