  1. are you the same studio executive that cancelled every vampire movie in development after Morbius bombed
  2. absolutely adored this, the exact kind of movie I was hoping Peele would make with this premise. definitely going to alienate a decent chunk of its audience expecting a straightforward horror movie though.
  3. very confident that this movie will be a gigantic hit, like 200M domestic. has no competition, trailer view numbers are great, two huge movie stars in their first major roles in god knows how long. also the first rom-com that a studio seems to have any faith in since, what, Crazy Rich Asians? the market is starving.
  4. looks fun but i’d sooner cut two of my fingers off than give another dime to david o. russell
  5. fantastic beasts had eddie redmayne fucking around in new york in the 1920s with his boring ass magic creatures no one cares about. everyone liked harry potter as wish fulfillment fantasy and that took out a core element of why people liked those movies in the first place. new hunger games movie still has the hunger games.
  6. it could easily make 300M domestic. everyone is going to underpredict the hell out of that movie because they’re not in the target audience.
  7. sure, the movie had a lot of factors that led to it essentially bombing, just using it as an example of how the whole live action remake enterprise is not infallible. at the end of the day, the main reason i assume little mermaid won’t do extraordinarily well is the vibes are off.
  8. if Mulan got a regular theatrical release it would’ve been a massive bomb, and I remember everyone overpredicting the hell out of that movie before it got booted to disney+. no idea why Little Mermaid would have significantly more appeal than Mulan (they both adjust to roughly the same amount domestic). feels like a lot of the live action remake momentum was exhausted after the one two punch of Aladdin and Lion King in 2019, and it’s certainly a less popular movie than either of those. this is an absurdly large range but anywhere between Dumbo and Cinderella numbers feels right to me.
  9. my stance on Lightyear is i haven’t seen it, don’t plan to, i definitely would’ve if it was way gayer though. just one lesbian kiss isn’t enough i want Buzz to kiss a guy too. there should also be full frontal nudity and penetration. long, graphic sex scenes. leave nothing to the imagination. this would also save it from being a bomb at the box office because most people like gay sex which negates any potential backlash from conservative parents. win win situation.
  10. happy for Elvis doing well though great movie. baz luhrmann’s on another level for making a music biopic in 2022 one of the most purely enjoyable things i’ve seen in a while.
  11. i like most Pixar movies but i don’t see how Lightyear bombing is anything but something to be happy for. a necessary wake-up call that they can’t live off boring IP exercises forever. probably ensures a higher percentage of “original” pixar movies are funded.
  12. if a movie does poorly and everyone correctly notices that the movie is doing poorly, maybe the movie is just doing poorly? the preview number could’ve been 2M and you’d still find a way to spin it as a perfectly fine number it’s driven by walk ups don’t worry guys, 60M is still within reach
  13. lost world and fallen kingdom are the good sequels, iii and world are the bad ones. i assume dominion is bad too who knows i'll probably never see it. the best thing Trevorrow will ever make is The Book of Henry.
