Well deserved too. Plus if anything is going to have the record it should be from the granddaddy of the genre.

I think the majority of people see them as a genre you can wait and see at home. Especially in the days of streaming.

I didn’t get it and have been wanting to check the trailer out. Same with Happy Death Day 2 U. Figured they would be online by now. Also the main kid in The Prodigy is Georgie from it so between that and being an OITNB fan I’m curious to check it out.

It’s always a nice surprise when it does happen.

Even if it didn’t have competition everything about it screams 10-15M OW. Heck Geostorm with a bigger cast, studio, budget, and promotion still only got over 13M. TBH it looks very DTV anyway.

Hunter Killer was never going to be #1.

All of this Venom vs. Halloween talk is just reminding me

I didn’t hate Venom but it was nothing special either. Halloween was the better film which is why I’m rooting for it. I’m a horror and superhero movie fan and was looking forward to both.

Venom was ok but Halloween deserves the record.

The fact that it’s coming as close as it is to Venom is truly remarkable. In a perfect world it would take the record though. Halloween having the October record just sounds right.

I legit thought you meant Curtis and was going WTF.

I just hope it helps resurrect the genre. I mostly enjoy all horror but slashers always have a special place in my heart.

I’m curious to see how well Halloween plays till the holiday. I never understood why the series became summer releases.

If it were to get that close to the record I’d be a little disappointed. Still a fantastic number anyway. I mean it’d be beating RZ’s Halloween full domestic gross even when you adjust it for inflation.

The fact that H20 got a worse score with a B- is crazy to me.

Sadly, that’s what I was expecting for Scream 4. Ever since then I learned to keep my horror expectations low and for the most part I’ve been surprised. Even when IT’s tracking was getting up there I tended to stay in the 45-50 range.

Looks OK enough. Not a bad way to waste a cold January afternoon. Plus Karen from Daredevil? Sign me up.

I know it’s no longer canon. But I grew up with them being siblings so this is disturbing to me.
