So, out of nowhere a big Daredevil bombshell just surfaced. I'll hide it with the spoiler tag just in case:

Where is this "most of the original footage being kept" info coming from?  From what I'm reading, the trades are saying they are unsure how much is being kept at all...

Actually, the bottom right corner of the Torch poster has a credit for 20th Century Studios...hm

Just checked and the Deadpool poster also has it, but much smaller in font. Guess it's a holdover from the Fox acquisition?

The contracts are the contracts.  Even if Disney currently owns 20th Century Fox/"20th Century Pictures", that studio entity apparently retains the film rights to all FF, X-Men, Deadpool, etc. characters so far...  Would be nice to see 20th's logo be kept alive in some form...

Same as the trades recently "riffing" on Luc Besson's DRACULA, for which they claimed that Besson would "revisit the original love story of the tale, with Prince Vlad and his long-lost love" which of course had nothing to do with the original Bram Stoker novel -- similarly here, the trades are now seemingly employed with lesser-educated culturally hollow writers (and editors) who don't know how to describe the Frankenstein story -- referring to Bale's character as "Frankenstein"...when it sounds more like he is playing "the monster"??  "Frankenstein's monster"??  Come on, folks...do a little literary refreshing if you're going to constantly revisit these properties...

Oh well, at least Warners now has the next-best thing to a Batman project in their Batman-less October slot... one of their most popular former Batmen coming back for one of the most famous stories ever told...

Your bad taste in movies is not an excuse to mention wrong information though. Easy enough to look up before making a blanket statement.

You folks are harsh, Grim.  Sheesh.  OK, I still think it's fair to say that "almost all" of the Batman live-action reboots include his origin.  I thought we weren't judging people here based on "taste"?  😉  Don't worry, I didn't say I liked Snyder's (or even Nolan's) any better... 😁

I think GUnn has made it clear he does not want to revisit the Superman Origin story again. Everybody knows it. IMHO he would be wise to keep away from any scenes on Krypton.

...But every single Batman reboot has a flashback to Wayne's origins and parents' death, even if fans feel like they don't need it...It would be a real surprise to not see *any* of that, here...

  6. On the other hand, this is no different than numerous filmmakers on high-profile genre projects over the last decade denying, denying, denying up front until the truth ultimately comes out.  What I *could* see being the case is that this *is* a leaked photo, but of a prep for a flashback scene within the movie where "Superman" is first seen/revealed in public, with Kal-el's early costume.  He updates his outfit some years later...with hopefully a longer cape! 😉

But I dig the logo choice.  And the snow...which presumably (but not necessarily) signals some Fortress of Solitude action.

And no, we haven't had any casting for any Martha/Jonathan Kent, yet, right?  With Gunn being so traditional in re-establishing the rest (including Luthor's bald 'do'), it would be surprising to not see them much (or at all), here...but perhaps that's an angle he's taking?

So that's Netflix, Best Buy, and now Disney themselves exiting the physical media business. Feels like an inevitability all the studios are going to announce that they won't be making discs anymore at this point.

Netflix is a streamer by origin -- any titles we got from them on physical media were a bonus.  Best Buy was a retail distributor; they had no hand in the organization or decision-making for any studio, other than getting some exclusive Steelbooks.  Disney is now outsourcing to SONY, which yes, actually might help *increase* titles on the public market since they presumably will take away all of the physical labor work they had to preside over.  Now it's really about executive sign-offs on certain titles and extras (which, give recent history, did come under some scrutiny within the studio organization, yes.)  But I see hopeful things for this, as a still-semi-devoted collector of (and strong advocate for) physical media.  If Disney/Sony sales go well, it will only encourage everyone else a little more to dig into catalogues.

Small news in here: confirmation that Kang Dynasty will have a new title. Not certain if that mean Kang is gone outright

They say it right there: They will now "either minimize the character or excise him entirely."  And the claim is that they were already making moves to minimize the character after Quantumania underperformed (but seriously, folks, I don't know why they expected that movie to "explode").  My guess is that they will drop Kang, period, and the focus will shift to building an antagonist like The Beyonder as well as possibly...Doom.

200k likes for concept art is crazy. Feels like people are more ready for a new Batman Beyond adaptation than WB think.

Yes.  Just prior to James Gunn's new role, the studio was apparently developing a Beyond-styled further Keaton live-action entry (with Michelle Pfeiffer's Selina Kyle/Catwoman set to return!), but this kind of film probably has the potential to do even better!

Behind the scenes and interview stuff makes it very clear that Sydney Sweeney does not know there's a difference between the Sony spinoffs and the MCU outright and very much thinks she's in the main MCU.

Which I guess maybe they may show up in Secret Wars (they brought back Anson Mount after all) but yeaaaaah

Half of the press doesn't, either.  "How does it feel to join the Marvel Universe??" they continue to ask...

The smoking gun there really is Batgirl. Despite being a Batman property, having absolutely awful ratings and having to recast the show's lead in a messy situation, the show kept on trucking because these shows were clearly profitable from day 1 as netflix co-productions.

Let's not get our Batgirls and BatWOMANs confused, now...  😉   But they *both* were kind of "smoking guns" recently for Warner Bros.

I LOVE Superman & Lois. I was a big fan of most of the Arrowverse (except coincidentally, Arrow). CW has cut ties with almost every DC show. I'm honestly shocked they renewed S&L anyway. I'm thankful it will have one final season. DC should just cut ties with the CW for now.

Haven't caught up with the last season, yet, but from the first two seasons, it is a good show, and yes, a damn sight better than any recent seasons I'd seen of the other CW DC superhero shows.  But they were already cutting costs, and as I said in another thread here, Warner Bros. surely A) didn't want to be embarrassed again like during the SMALLVILLE/Superman Returns competition that happened, and B ) Yes, surely Zaslav and/or Gunn were involved in making the decision here, as others have said, Zaslav has been very clear about his feelings on this matter in interviews already!  I also think it's amazing that it's even getting a 4th season!

Really dumb WB keeps doing this.

Oh, they realized how good the show is?  😁  No, seriously folks, the show was already being shaved down in terms of budget and the unsure future of THE CW.  Plus... Warners learned from their SMALLVILLE experience!  😁  They're not afraid of "competition" per se...but in the off-chance that Gunn's film underwhelms, they don't want the same kind of situation, again -- SMALLVILLE lasted 10 years on-air and is *still* loved and talked about to this day, while SUPERMAN RETURNS lasted...maybe 2 or 3 in mass cultural consciousness.
