Two different cases. Wan had the weight of a changing DCU and multiple-changing Warner Executive regime on his back during shooting and in post. Jenkins seemingly had all the freedom in the world to make a great sequel...and bungled it...*then* had the pandemic and was pushed to streaming. And *then* she got caught up in regime change. But if her movie had been a huge hit, no doubt they would have continued with her and Gal for at least one more movie. Aqua 2 already seems as dead as a dead fish can get, though...something we didn't necessarily know about WW 1984 until the public saw it. Wan will be fine, he has a very, very successful career in another genre. Jenkins unfortunately does not have that sustained rep.

And World War Z somehow worked for most, as well, right? But yeah, usually it's not a good sign... I'm numb to this clearly-Marvel-PR-requested rhetoric in the trades now of "Reshoots are common and worked into the schedule, especially at Marvel." I just don't buy it.

When having a closer look at the trailer, it appears that Hemsworth's "cape" is more white...but gets stained with blood at a certain point; so that shot of him in a "red" cape is a great illusion...but surely a wicked nod by Miller!

Which is why, by the time Miller got around to making Fury Road, he of course couldn't use Gibson anymore. But it ultimately proved the better for reviving the franchise, I think... although I still would have *loved* to see an older, grizzled, Gibson-Max facing off against Robert Downey Jr.'s antagonist (that was the plan around 2001) !!

I hope so, too. I wouldn't ever doubt George Miller...who has a pretty sterling rep. I can almost guarantee the movie, even if fractured, will end up being more interesting than most other things next summer... but we haven't even heard a sniff of any production problems, anyway, right?? And of course FURY ROAD has issues...but turned out to be...genius (in my opinion)!

I'm still not vibing with this whole "Younger Lex" thing...(I was a big fan of "Smallville"'s take, but even there Luthor was meant to be at least 5-6 years older than Clark). Hoult is 34, but could pass for 28. Gene Hackman was at least 46 when he first played Luthor. Spacey was around the same age. Eisenberg has unfortunately scared me off young Luthors until proven otherwise. But I have a little more faith in Hoult. A little.

Well...that was Tony Stark/Iron Man. And yeah, we could use one of those again to loosen everyone up a bit...but Hollywood is just too afraid, I guess...and of course RDJ is one-of-a-kind, difficult to duplicate...

Very likely that Marvel hired Waldron to redo the screenplay for "Kang Dynasty" (which will probably just shift to "Secret Wars, Part 1" or another title) to at the very least to have an alternative option, should the Majors case go downhill...and it's also likely why Cretton walked away...because this is more and more looking like it's not going to be the movie he signed up for.

Because they've spent enough already and it's a...dead fish? We're in a vicious circle of conversation, here. It's sad, but it's the reality. Look at the market for this genre over the last year...and specifically this studio's films in that genre... they're cutting their losses. It should have been made/released within 2-3 years of the original.

Estimated at over $426 mil. generated from global box office and home video sales...but of course not all of that went back to the studio. Still it earned 10 Oscar Nominations...which surely generated further revenue. No One turns down another Mad Max-related film from George Miller. They'll let him make as many more as he can, as long as he can. Unless this one really flops...which I doubt it will. Miller has almost never made a "bad" movie. Yes, they'll obviously go to those if they can't get back the OG Avengers. And I would actually prefer that, to see that Evans, RDJ, at least have the integrity to leave it alone with their very nice ending. The trades said that Evans had signed up for "something" Marvel a couple years back...but it appears he reneged...or they're just keeping it quiet, of course.

Got news for ya, Kevs: No one's going to see SECRET WARS (and whatever mystery Kang or Kang-less Part 1 that precedes it) with Hawkeye's daughter, Ms. Marvel, a last-left flopping THOR, Shang-Chi, a still-to-be-decided Captain America, and maybe a snarky Dr. Strange and Spidey... They need something BIG for these... and I notice Feige doesn't mention the Multiverse, there...

I just LOVE how ballsy Miller is literally having Hemsworth mimic his THOR outfit and cape... He gives no shits (and apparently, neither does Hemsworth)...and I'm here for it. Still...(would have preferred Charlize Theron back!) But I can't imagine this will be anything less than extremely satisfying...and at the very least an energetic prequel unique from most other summer blockbuster schlock!

It has all the ingredients for a big hit, of course...as long as the movie turns out well and connects with audiences. Tim Burton has had very few flops, and of course this property is one of his most well-known and loved, rumored for a return for years. With Ortega in the bag, the sky is the limit.

They should have just stolen the older unused subtitle: Man of Tomorrow, (which was also the developing title of the never-made Singer sequel to 'Superman Returns'), since they're calling Supergirl with her phrase. It will be more than 12 years from 'Man of Steel'...I don't think people would associate. Oh well...there's still plenty of time for a change. 😁

I'm sure Marvel, Feige, Disney are *always* discussing *everything*...so what? More likely is that it's all deliberate media leaks to keep the "conversation" going online, etc. ...since the conversation around the MCU as a whole is obviously lacking, due to the movies, lately... Eternals sequel will obviously not be made...best fans may see is a few of the characters show up in SECRET WARS... and of course they'll bring back Harry Styles. 🤩😄😄 Speaking of SECRET WARS...there must *really* be some stinkers of disagreement between the RUSSOS and Feige/Marvel for there not to be *any* rumors of their return.

Guaranteed that Reynolds will throw-in a last-minute joke about current superhero movie fatigue...and of course it has a strong chance of still being topical, since there's almost no other product in this genre emerging on the big screen before Deadpool, right? The only other real question is...which Professor X will we be seeing? Or will it be a new one? 🤩 (It's time, folks...)
