Jurassic World Dominion OS Thread
scoobysaurus replied to Brainbug's topic in International Box Office
The numbers is back down to 996.7. What on earth is going on? I know nobody's interested in discussing this movie anymore but if one of the purples could weigh in it would be much appreciated @charlie Jatinder please help! -

Ikr. 980 would've been way easier to take than a potential finish at 998 or 999m. It would become such a meme. -

Looking like 995-996m as it stands. We're not making it over a billion unless Uni does something about it. How depressing would it be to have a film be 4-5m short of a billion? Smh -
It looks like JWD will either end up the highest grossing movie that never made it to a billion, or the lowest grossing billion dollar movie of all time. 🤔

All good here! Even I couldn't match my JW viewings lol just saw it 5 times so far and I guess that will be it. Won't be long until its on streaming platforms here. FWIW @Brainbughas taken over as the resident JW fanatic here and we cannot compete 😋 Idk what to say but I didn't vibe with the film as much as I did with JW or even FK. Still hope it makes it to a billion. I thought you left the forum for good or something and I'm glad I was wrong - the JW collectors set you managed to get for me is still proudly displayed among my JP collection. Missed you Bishy!

Weekly Thread 6/20/22 - JWD $8.5m, TGM $8.0m, LY $6.8m
scoobysaurus replied to EmpireCity's topic in Numbers and Data
Eh, I'd take that over not being able to see Lightyear at all. I'd have to fly to India in the east or Greece in the west to have any chance of legally seeing it in this lifetime. Kinda sucks since I was a big Toy Story fan as a kid. I could probably order a blu Ray from overseas but it'll probably get confiscated so I'm gonna have to resort to the high seas or see it on a friend's disney+ while I'm on holiday. Smh -
China Box Office Thread | Oppenheimer-August 30
scoobysaurus replied to A Marvel Fanboy's topic in China At The Box Office
DOM + China is looking like $500m now so the rest of the world has to get to half a billion for it to hit the mark. -
I totally get you. I too don't think it deserves 30% on RT. And I'm far from being a hater of the movie, on the contrary I want every bit of Jurassic content to do well because I'm a self admitted blind fanboy of the franchise. But then again I too am clear on what Trevorrow was trying to achieve and that's where we disagree because I'm not a huge fan of his vision post JW1, but that still hasn't stopped me from seeing JWD multiple times to support our beloved franchise, and even put in a positive word to all my family and friends, because at the end of the day JWD is thoroughly entertaining IMHO and although it's flawed, doesn't really deserve the hate it gets. I hope it crawls past $1b WW.

+1 on the rivalry part. I was soured on this idea before the film even released due to his exposition on this generational rivalry where the rex is a hero, the giga a Joker-esque supervillain and their meeting 65 million years later is supposed to symbolise karma being served on a silver platter by a reincarnated hero to her (also reincarnated) arch nemesis. And yeah, it doesn't help when you're going for scientific accuracy on the one hand and throwing it out the window with the other. It might have helped with the "character arc" Trevorrow had in mind for Rexy but yeah you're right I cannot defend his choices with a straight face lol. Fwiw I thought it was an entertaining film and I'll leave it at that. Sigh

Scientifically inaccurate? Sure. Mildly infuriating, sure. But it's not without precedent. Jurassic Park gave us 6 ft tall velociraptors that existed in Montana USA. A giganotosaurus and others wouldn't be that far a stretch in terms of in-universe science and paleontology. I'm not a huge fan of what Trevorrow has done with the franchise post JW (including some parts of JW1) but the prologue would've been a neat addition to JWD from a story based perspective, not to mention that it was beautifully shot. Fwiw Trevorrow is STILL tweeting about the whole 'Revenge of the Rex' plot he had in mind, and as ridiculous as it sounds, it makes little sense without the prologue - because then it looks like the Giga deserved its fate for something far more trivial. Point is I'm not a fan of what he was intending to do, but with the scene in the final movie at least we would've got the full story he was trying to tell, regardless of how it makes us feel. But as some others have said, I at least expected them to add the T Rex drive in scene to the final cut. Just my 2 cents. Edit: accidental spoilers

What about JWD? -

To be fair to JP3 it is a 600m+ film in today's money, fared way better with critics (something I wish I never had to say about JWD), and had a fairly good chance at breaking the OW record at the time had Universal not released it on a Wednesday. The main problem with that movie is the lack of a climax (seriously what were they thinking!) This isn't me dissing JWD or praising JP3, but rather sharing my disappointment in terms of what could have been in the case of both films. I've already seen Dominiom 4x and probably will see it one more time before it leaves cinemas. Coming from a guy that's seen JW and FK 18x and 9x respectively at the cinema I would attribute this to the general decline in quality more than a loss in interest from my end. FWIW, I do enjoy JP3 more than Dominion but then again my opinions aren't very popular among the fanbase since I also prefer TLW over JP - not saying its a better movie but I just enjoy it a tiny bit more! -

You know what's worse? I was hoping this would make more than JW lol. JP trilogies have a history of dropping by 300m WW with each sequel until it goes on a hiatus and gets rebooted. Even by that logic JWD *should* make about $1b. It's looking highly unlikely but I'm still hoping it pulls through. -
And what about the best case scenario? lol I remember there was a club a few years back for JW becoming the highest grossing trilogy, but that seems very unlikely or probably impossible right now. JWD had to make 1.4b+ WW, and had a shot at doing so too if dominion was well received. Guess we'll have to be content with second place. Sigh
